Below Deck Down Under star Jason Chambers, also known as Captain Jason, is one of Bravo’s most eligible bachelors. He joined the network in 2022 and quickly became a fan favorite and many viewers’ TV boyfriend. It’s no mystery why viewers are swooning for the Bravo star. Not only is he dreamy, but he’s also devoted to his work and puts his daughter above all else.

Captain Jason’s romantic life continues to fascinate fans. He’s pretty low-key about his personal life, but he recently shared an update about his dating status. Here’s what we know.

Where does Captain Jason stand in his dating life in April 2025?

Below Deck viewers suspected Captain Jason may be off the market after a fan thought they spotted an engagement ring on his finger in a promo for Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under. But it was a false alarm.

Captain Jason set the record straight in a February 2025 interview with The Daily Dish, telling the outlet he is currently single. However, his DMs may not be open quite yet, sorry ladies. In the interview, he shared that dating isn’t his number one priority at the moment.

“I don’t think the time has ever been right. I needed to give a lot of time to my daughter over the last few years,” he said.

He shared that he wants to make sure he is going into dating with the right intentions, telling The Daily Dish he needs to be in the right headspace.

“The relationships I have had have been long, and they probably shouldn’t have lasted that long,” he said. “I’m starting to realize why I’ve gone into those relationships. I’m probably trying to create something but not be 100 percent myself. So, I have put a pause on dating for quite some time because I haven’t had the time to bring someone else into my daughter’s [life].”

Ok, a man who self-reflects and puts his family first? Yeah, my guess is those comments aren’t going to curb the slew of DMs I’m sure he’s getting.

Captain Jason has his eye on a few Bravolebs

Captain Jason told The Daily Dish that he will start dating again when his life is more stable.

“I think 2025 is the time to get some stability, find out where I’m going to be based, get my career going, and then it’s right to bring someone else in,” he said. “So yeah, 2025 will be the year that I will get these other things done and then, hopefully, I can meet someone and I’m ready.”

The Below Deck Down Under star has expressed interest in a couple of Bravolebs in the past. He gave Vanderpump Rules cast member Lala Kent a shoutout at BravoCon in 2023, telling fans she is the Bravo star he would want as a primary guest on his yacht. The comment caused quite a stir among fans, and romance rumors began to spread. However, Lala shot down the rumors in a December 2023 Amazon Live, telling viewers she is not interested in dating the Captain.

“I think he’s very very handsome, as many people do,” she said, The Daily Dish reported. “He’s quite a bit older than me. He lives somewhere very very far from me. And timing is everything with a relationship, and I’m just not quite there. I know I’m a weirdo.”

More recently, Captain Jason expressed interest in a few other Bravolebs during an interview with Parade. The interviewer presented him with a number of names from the network, and he shared whether he would date them or not. Brynn Whitfield, Heather Gay, and Ciara Miller were among the names he expressed interest in.

Could Captain Jason swap Below Deck Down Under for a Bravo dating show?

Captain Jason is so popular with the ladies that I would not be surprised if he were offered the leading role in a dating show. Perhaps he could take on a leading role in Bravo’s Love Hotel or even make the jump to ABC and become the next Bachelor. I believe fans would tune in to see Jason navigate the messy waters of a reality dating show. He’s the perfect candidate for it.

Below Deck Down Under is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Stewardess Marina Marcondes de Barros is making waves on Below Deck Down Under Season 3. Her work ethic is strong. However, her jokes and service-related requests have not always landed well with her superiors.

Working underneath Lara Rigby, Marina desires to vacate her housekeeping duties in favor of service details. Captain Jason Chambers agrees with her requests on this matter. Nevertheless, Lara remains on the fence. If things are working, Lara prefers to keep them as they are.

Curious about many things, Reality Tea got Marina on the line. We wanted to know where she and Lara now stand, alongside what we can expect to see during the second half of Below Deck Down Under Season 3. Here is everything Marina sweetly spilled.

Marina Marcondes de Barros walks us through a typical day, parked in housekeeping on Below Deck Down Under

Trying to understand how hectic a day in the life of an understaffed BDDU stew is, we asked Marina to explain what her typical schedule entailed. “When you work on a yacht of 60 meters specifically, normally you have four girls, and we only had three. Which means that somebody’s gonna get extra jobs. Unfortunately, that person was me,” Marina explained.

“As soon as the guests wake up, they have breakfast with the service crew.” After they leave their cabins, Marina enters, preparing their beds and rooms “like they just arrived on the boat.” To do this, Marina must ensure that their “clothes are folded, hung perfectly, and color-coordinated.” Then, “You need to make sure the whole bathroom gets wiped and all the towels are facing the right way,” Marina added.

“But at the same time, the guests have left the room. So there are clothes on the floor and dirty towels. There are so many things that you need to rush to the laundry and start the machines because they take time. So you need to start the machines, put a timer on, and then run back to flip the things, or [the laundry] will build up,” Marina notes to our exhausted faces.

Once this is complete, Marina must “rush down to the crew mess to set the table for a crew lunch. When that time comes, it’s guest lunch. So you return to their cabins to complete a sweep, making everything neat. So, this is the whole day until night when we do the turndown, where we take all the decorative pillows away.”

As Marina stated in Below Deck Down Under Season 3, which we co-sign, she is “too cute and charismatic to be in the dungeon.”

Lara Rigby trusted Marina Marcondes de Barros, but their friendship post-BDDU is hard to define

Recently, Captain Jason gave Marina a shot at service during an excursion. When Marina returned to the yacht, Lara was pleased by her efforts. Not pleased, however, are the fans of Below Deck Down Under. In her DM’s, Marina quickly began receiving messages stating she was being “unfairly treated,” she admits.

“In the beginning, I tried to defend the situation. But then, I did start questioning if I was being taken advantage of because now, it’s not just me,” Marina sighed.

“A lot of other Latina women, or women in general, have been sharing similar stories, that they’ve been taken advantage of just because people imagined they could take the load,” Marina clocked. However, she does not think this narrative “was the situation here. Lara trusted my hard work, but she lacked any motivation to give me a shot, to give me an opportunity.” Nevertheless, Marina is “a good sport” who “took it on the chin and did my best.”

When asked where she and Lara stand now, Marina admitted, “It’s hard to say. We left in a good place as friends, having a great time. She’s an amazing woman. She’s somebody that I look up to.”

But after filming, Lara spoke about the subject on TV, “brushing it off as if it was nothing. I wish she could appreciate more of my efforts instead of just brushing them off.”

Marina is all of us, speaking fluent sarcasm whenever her patience plummets. But, after making a cheeky swipe at Captain Jason, Marina quickly found herself in the hot seat. They “hit a low point with that little snarky comment,” Marina admitted. But in large part, she and Captain Jason were (and still are) great.

“We always were messing around with each other, joking, and he knew that I worked my ass off. He called me the tornado when I joined the boat. He said I just went around flipping, saying I could run the boat solo at a certain point. So it was fun. I loved being around him,” Marina remarked.

But what Marina appreciated the most was when Captain Jason took her “side with Lara, demanding that I get my space in the sun. It was moving to me. I appreciated it.” She teased: “Our friendship just gets stronger and stronger towards the end of the season. I cannot wait for you guys to see it.”

What does Marina Marcondes de Barros now think about Wihan du Toit and her newest crush, Nicolas Cattelan?

Marina Below Deck Down Under

Wihan du Toit strung several women along before his firing, including Marina. After filming, Marina shared that “the whole crew did a South African trip. We all went there, and [Wihan is] from there, so we got connected.”

However, Wihan and Harry van Vliet sadly remain at odds. So, their time together was brief, she admitted. Marina also revealed that Wihan is “dating now, working on boats, but it’s a big world, so we will likely never see each other again.”

Turning raw, Marina confessed that it is “hard not to feel hurt when a guy kisses you and immediately after says on live TV that he likes somebody else. But I just got rid of a bad thing, so I’m not complaining. Thank you, universe,” Marina quipped.

Once Wihan departed, two new deckhands arrived. One of them, Nicolas Cattelan, caught her eye in Episode 12. On Nic, Marina gushed, “Nic is so cute. He’s a nerd, which I have always had a crush on. So, of course, he tickles my heart, but I have had a bad experience before, and I’m here to work, so my focus is definitely on that.”

However, Marina is “a human. I’m a woman. So, let’s see. To be continued,” she joked.

Speaking of upcoming storylines, Marina reiterated that “Tensions are getting quite high. But, there are still some subjects that were never properly addressed at the beginning of the season. They’re just ready to explode. So yeah, you guys are in for a treat. Get a popcorn and enjoy!”

Another week has come and gone, making it time for our Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12 recap. “Across Frenemy Lines” brings us back to the super yacht Katina, where, starting last week, two new men are turning the tide for the exterior team. In contrast, relations between the interior team and the galley are sinking. Lara has clear visions for how things must run, so last-minute change-ups and requests are not her bag, even though this narrative is starting to frustrate Marina, Tzarina, and Captain Jason. Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 12.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12?

Nicolas has already messed up royally, drinking with the guests during his first charter. But, unlike those who came before, Nicolas owns his mistakes. Now, Captain Jason has appreciative eyes trained on his newest deckhand, who remains safe (for now). Meanwhile, trouble is also brewing in the galley. Frustrations, pride, and misunderstood narratives are mounting, resulting in a conflict-filled episode of BDDU.

The crew awakens for another day, but Alesia remains tired. Tzarina notices.

Internally, Nicolas is struggling. He knows he messed up and that ignoring his actions might fly, yet Nicolas is not that kind of guy. As soon as he can, Nicolas plans on reporting his drunken shot to the captain.

The guests planned an excursion to a rum tasting and distillery tour, followed by a picnic lunch. A storm blows in, but this will not cancel their plans. In contrast, Captain Jason has a new plan to throw at Lara, asking her to place Marina on service during this outing. But Lara disagrees, telling her boss that Marina cannot “do service on her own.”

The camera pans to show Marina excelling solo with the guests as they eat breakfast on the sundeck. Back in the galley, Lara tells Captain Jason that Marina has never done service alone, so he asks her to give Marina a chance. In his interview, he notes that Lara needs to step outside her comfort zone.

The guests and first round of crew members (including Marina) depart, escorted away by a covered tender to help avoid the storm.

Lara heads to the galley, telling Tzarina to attend the picnic lunch. Tzarina, however, notes that the dishes for this excursion only need to be unwrapped and served, so the crew members in attendance do not need her nearby. Even still, Lara is adamant that Tzarina must attend. Tzarina relents and accepts, noting that she must be back on board early to prep dinner.

Lara suggests Alesia also attend to “help build” her confidence. Heading up to the sundeck, Lara next encounters Harry. She tells Harry that something is off with Tzarina.

Nicolas practices his shots-related speech using a Pirates of the Caribbean reference. He then explains that he got into yachting courtesy of his father, a professional windsurfer and kitesurfer who now works as a captain in the Mediterranean. His equally attractive father hates rules, but as he admits, Nicolas moves oppositely. Proving this point, Nicolas heads to the wheelhouse to turn himself in.

On the excursion, Marina busts her tail to wow their charter guests. Tzarina and Alesia arrive. As Marina serves rum, Tzarina uncovers her dishes and runs. As she explains, the boat is over an hour away, so Tzarina must head back now to ensure everything runs smoothly later.

After Tzarina bolts, Adair asks Alesia if she is okay. In response, Alesia states that she can uncover dishes. This response is what Tzarina tried to state to Lara earlier. But Alesia remains bothered, and Tzarina seems to be the one she feels annoyed by.

In the wheelhouse, Nicolas tells on himself. Thankfully, Captain Jason repays his honesty with grace. His job is safe.

Tzarina returns to the yacht following the excursion, frustrated with Lara

Back onboard, Tzarina tells Lara that this excursion was the “biggest waste” of her time. Lara asks if Tzarina went before the “food got taken out?” Confused, Tzarina answers yes. In her interview, Lara quips, “I wish Tzarina had been more passionate about serving the guests lunch than serving me this sh*tty attitude.”

The guests return. They loved their expedition. Alesia heads to the galley, where Tzarina is extra quiet. Alesia wants to help, yet the only reply she gets from Tzarina is a nod and a saying that all is well.

Nicolas tells everyone what he did and how the captain reacted. This crew likes Nicolas, so everyone feels thankful he kept his gig.

Lara enters, praising Alesia for her service during the excursion. Alesia was glad to go, yet she knew a lot needed to happen back on the yacht. Lara waves her concerns away. In her talking head, Tzarina states that Lara seems to be “grooming” Alesia to turn against her in the galley.

Several beats later, Harry asks Tzarina if she and Lara are getting along. Tzarina answers that she thinks all is well, but when she asks Harry why he questioned her about this friendship, Harry fibs, telling her no one brought this to his ear.

As the guests head to the dinner table, Alesia attempts small talk with Tzarina. Tzarina answers her questions kindly, but her words are few. Alesia somewhat snaps, telling Tzarina she cannot go an entire night like this “because it’s depressing.” Tzarina looks confused but tells Alesia that she is exhausted, nothing more or less.

In the crew galley, Marina encounters Nicolas. Nicolas finds Marina “adorable,” he admits, joking in his talking head that he never approached women while growing up. Laughing, Nicolas gives God thanks for feminism because bold women helped him out with his game.

The crew lines up to grab plates from Tzarina. Tzarina goes over what the guests are about to eat so they can parrot these words back to their guests. However, her explanation is wordy, causing Lara to roll her eyes.

Alesia retreats to her cabin for a moment of silence. Shortly after, thanks to editing, the guests also head to their rooms for bed.

Alesia heads to the galley in the morning. Tzarina gives her a task, which Alesia seeks clarification on. Alesia explains that she has “no idea” what is happening in Tzarina’s head, yet she feels like she is walking on eggshells at work now. Tzarina listens, stating she will tell Alesia more moving forward.

Lurking in the next room, hearing everything, Harry smiles, amused at their low-stakes drama. On deck, Nate teaches Adair as a capable bosun should. Speaking of capable, Tzarina is in the galley, licking water from her tumbler like a competent cat. I, too, wish to lurk inside her brain.

The guests depart. They loved their charter.

Marina finds Nicolas cute, but Adair reveals a secret that gives Marina pause

While turning the boat over, Marina tells Adair that she finds Nicolas cute. But this deck/stew has a secret. Nic has already started to “party with a guest,” Adair reveals. Shocked and disappointed, Marina listens as Adair continues, telling Marina that Nicolas already confessed everything to the captain.

Once Adair gets to the part of his actual sins, AKA drinking a shot with this guest in question, Marina looks relieved. Words matter, all. In her interview, Marina labels Nic a nerd, admitting she loves his honesty.

The crew, however, does not love their 15k tip. But Nicolas treasures the disco ball helmet, which Captain Jason hands him following his authentic showings. In their talking heads, the crew also applauds Nic while joking about how he presents. Nicolas is new, but he is already a winner on BDDU.

Similarly, Harry is winning on deck. Nate makes Harry the lead deckhand.

Tzarina walks in on a heated conversation while Marina and Nicolas bring the heat to the dance floor

Bri pulls Alesia into her cabin. Once there, Lara asks Alesia how work is going. Alesia says that communication is lacking. Tzarina enters, catching their gossip session red-handed. She reflects in her confessional, slamming Lara for her “b*tchy schoolgirl attitude.”

Tzarina exits. Lara tells Alesia that a good leader cares about others. Interjecting, Alesia concedes that Tzarina does care for her.

Bri climbs into bed with Harry. A few floors above, Alesia and Nate chat in the hot tub. Nate leaves, giggling with Nicolas in their cabin about how big a fan he is of Alesia.

The crew heads out. Nicolas sits by Marina, admiring how her feet swing instead of reaching the floor. Also sitting side-by-side are Alesia and Nate, but Alesia misses Johnny, she divulges. When Alesia gets up for a smoke, Tzarina follows.

Alesia finally tells Tzarina how bothered she is. Hearing her, Tzarina explains her stressors before apologizing to Alesia. For now, the galley team is okay. Also okay are Marina and Nicolas, kissing on the dance floor as their fellow yachties cheer.

Lara approaches Alesia, asking her how her talk with Tzarina went. Alesia answers, telling her all is fine, but, as Tzarina clocked, tensions are typically high in this industry for chefs. Lara shuts this narrative down, telling Alesia, “It doesn’t have to be like that.”

Lara finds Tzarina next. Tzarina states that she has to say yes to Lara to make her back down, like with the plates issue. As Lara repeats that she was right about that, Tzarina announces that she feels “done.”

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Below Deck Down Under deck hand Nicolas Cattelan fumbled his first day on the job in Season 3 Episode 11. When Nicolas asked if it’s okay to mingle with the guests, Captain Jason Chambers warned him, “Yes, but no drinking and behave yourself.”

Unfortunately, during an after-dinner drinking game, one of the guests urged Nicolas to take a shot, and he complied. Uh oh. Did you not hear the captain say, “No drinking?” After stewardess Brianna Duffield reminded him of the no drinking on charter rule, Nic knew he screwed up.

Consequently, he will have to make a full confession to the captain the next day. Drinking on charter is a fireable offense. Will the Captain fire Nic or forgive him?

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12 sneak peek

Can I just say how absolutely beautifully this show is filmed? The underwater shots are stunning.

The next morning, Bosun Nate Salmon asks Nic how everything went the night before. All Nic can think of is that he broke the no-drinking rule.

“[I’ve] kind of been going back and forth,” the deck hand says in a confessional. “I know that with Captain Jason, drinking on charter is an absolute no-go. There’s a reality where I just don’t bring it up … but it’s not the right way to go about things.”

At the same time as the guests are leaving for their excursion, Nic is practicing what he’s going to say to Jason. “Captain,” he says, “primary asked me to take a shot, and I did. Got a bit carried away.”

Nicolas admits he has an issue with getting in his own head. “I’m not the most experienced person on the crew by far,” he adds. As Nicolas putters around his cabin, he finally decides he needs to “do this properly.” It’s time to face the captain.

But that’s where the sneak peek leaves us hanging. We’ll just have to watch next week’s episode to find out how Jason responds to Nic’s confession.

Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It also streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Johnny Arvanitis - BDDU Season 3

Captain Jason Chambers just sent Johnny Arvanitis packing. Johnny was a dedicated deckhand on Below Deck Down Under Season 3. But his temper flared one night, causing his exit from filming shortly after.

Despite this one night gone wrong, Johnny excelled in his position. He respected boundaries, listened to authority, and owned his wrongdoings as needed. Johnny also experienced a sweet boatmance with Alesia Harris, making his scenes light but fun for 11 episodes on BDDU. Now that Johnny is gone, we already miss his presence in this series, as does Alesia, who remained glued to her phone after he departed.

In my opinion, Johnny deserves another season of BDDU. He understands that he messed up. But, if given another go, I strongly feel like Johnny would present in a gentler light. So, what say you, Bravo?

Why Johnny Arvanitis was fired from Below Deck Down Under

Johnny worked underneath Wihan du Toit. Most of his fellow crew members struggled with Wihan, but Johnny consistently gave his bosun the benefit of the doubt. However, Johnny often clocked Wihan, suggesting that his boss tone down his flirtations with multiple women on board. Wihan brushed Johnny off, but one night, Alesia drunkenly crawled into Wihan’s arms, thinking he was Johnny. When Johnny saw this, he flipped and had it out with Wihan.

Once Alesia exited their cabin, feeling awful for her misstep, Wihan acted innocent, asking Johnny to talk to him. But Johnny snapped back at his bosun, locking their door before yelling, “DON’T F*CKING TALK TO ME,” while punching his overhead cabinets. The girls huddled in fear in their cabin next door as Captain Jason emerged, eager to shut this heated fight down. Ever a wise boss, he sent Johnny to a hotel for the night, and when he returned in Episode 11, Captain Jason fired Johnny.

Johnny took his firing like a champ. He understood why he had to go. If given this scenario again, he would react differently, he stressed. Johnny then apologized to Captain Jason for having to see this ugly side of him, further making me believe that Johnny would present as accountable and slower to anger via another season on Bravo.

Johnny Arvanitis should be allowed a Below Deck comeback to show his growth

Firings are nothing new in the Below Deck franchise. We see at least one early exit in almost every season. Most of these firings bring a sense of relief, as the yachties within were either toxic or lazy. But in rarer times, other firings have been sad, as these early exits felt unjustified.

Johnny falls into the latter category. That said, there was a justifiable reason for his firing. These hired hands work in small, shared spaces. Once signs of aggression form, these walls cave in all the more, making other crew members uncomfortable and fearful that a second over-the-top response might be brewing.

However, one terrible night does not paint a complete picture of who Johnny is. Wihan consistently, although seemingly unknowingly, stirred the pot this entire season. Through it all, Johnny remained calm, often encouraging Wihan to take on this same tactic. Then, as I stood and screamed at Wihan from my couch, I began wondering how heated those in his orbit must have felt.

I got my answer shortly after when Johnny, the last human on board to lose his sh*t on Wihan, finally activated. His heated response is a far cry from his norm. But, as he stressed with Captain Jason, Johnny owns his behaviors and feels sorry for his outburst. If given a redemption season on BDDU, I firmly believe that Johnny would take that gift horse and run, peacefully quelling every wave that arose on deck.

Below Deck Down Under is missing some sparkle without Johnny Arvanitis

Johnny Arvanitis - BDDU Season 3

Johnny is a self-described Greek God. His muscles ripped, yes. But his wit and laid-back demeanor were the aspects most of us enjoyed. And now that he is gone, BDDU Season 3 feels a little less sparkly.

The guests also saw a spark in Johnny. After Wihan failed to drain a jetski that, not shockingly, then capsized, Johnny jumped into the water, holding their frightened guest tightly to help her keep calm while awaiting rescue. Later, Captain Jason gave Johnny the disco ball helmet. Johnny accepted it with a grin, even though he was the hero, not the zero, of this episode.

Additionally, Johnny is funny and supportive as hell. In helping a guest off their ski, he quietly quipped, “One small step for you, one giant leap for mankind.” Likewise, when Tzarina Mace-Ralph grew frustrated in the galley, Johnny was there, ready with a back rub and a calming note of support in her ear. Similarly, when Alesia placed boundaries on the lovesick Johnny, Johnny listened and changed his behavior, remaining respectful to his crush.

Johnny was many things for many people this season. But sadly, his spark is gone, leaving big boat shoes to fill on deck. Even still, Johnny needed this wake-up call. Soon, I hope Johnny gets the chance to redeem himself on Below Deck using only his words, which, nine times out of ten, were lovely this season on BDDU.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.

The midseason trailer for Below Deck Down Under Season 3 just dropped. While Captain Jason Chambers hoped to move forward, this trailer teases that a few backward steps might still be in play.

A recent double-firing just left this cast rocked. Thankfully, two replacement crew members arrived quickly to fill in these gaps. However, the verdict is out on whether or not these new hires will help turn their yacht around.

Nevertheless, Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan are now on board. But, as the midseason trailer teases, Nicolas might want to unpack his bags slowly. His early exit might lie just around another approaching corner.

The infection’s gone. We have some fresh faces. Time to fix it, time to move on,” Captain Jason says as the BDDU midseason trailer begins. We then see this grinning man saunter out in his Speedos to help appease his charter guests (alongside the entire viewing audience).

Clips of entertaining themed parties and deck games pass, showing everyone enjoying themselves on board the largest yacht ever, Katina. Then, we see Nate flirting with Alesia, who is now fair game after the firing of her original Season 3 beau.

“Johnny’s gone,” Alesia says in her confessional, adding that Johnny felt “like the angel on my shoulder.” However, Alesia notes that she “resonates more with the devil.”

As the midseason trailer shows, his shot-taking misstep in Episode 11 might cost Nicolas his job. Similarly, tensions are brewing between Lara Rigby and Tzarina Mace-Ralph, causing Lara to question her longevity on board.

Likewise, Harry Van Vliet and Brianna Duffield are still unmarked as safe, as the midseason trailer shows Bri crying after Harry announces that he does not wish to label their relationship. Yet, Harry does want the lead deckhand label, but as the hot tub overflows onto his deck and a tender gets beached on the sand, Captain Jason has to remind his deckhand, “You’ve got to earn your stripes, brother.”

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Nate Salmon is our newest bosun on Below Deck Down Under Season 3. He has only graced our screens for a short time. But already, we can tell that we like Nate.

Nate is replacing Wihan du Toit, who, legend has it, still does not understand why he got canned. Unlike Wihan, Nate gets along with everyone on this cast. Additionally, his eagerness to support all departments already sees us loving this new bosun.

But who is Nate? Is he experienced enough to lead his new team on BDDU? Likewise, how has Nate already presented in his brief appearances thus far in Season 3? Here’s everything we know…

Below Deck Down Under bosun Nate Salmon has an impressive resume

Nate stepped on board mere hours after Wihan departed. As Captain Jason looked over his resume, he grew excited. And when we saw what he saw, we felt pretty stoked, too. From what we can gather, Nate has the experience to turn this deck team around.

This 29-year-old has been a bosun for four years. In all, Nate has seven years of experience in the yachting industry. He also spent two years working as a kids’ party entertainer. This experience might be helpful should a rainy day arrive on board.

Captain Jason was not the only yachtie impressed with Nate. When she saw his resume, Marina Marcondes de Barros also commented on how experienced their new Australian bosun was. On a different note, Alesia Harris remarked, “I love Aussie people!”

Before joining Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Nate explained that he “took a break” from his job back in Sydney. Nate had “just been traveling, backpacking a little bit,” he added. “Holy sh*t, I’ve just got off the plane, right into [a] charter. Absolute chaos,” he said in his confessional. “But it’s the way I like it.”

Harry Van Vliet approves of his new boss, saying, “Nate’s keen to teach,” which Harry appreciates. With a stacked resume and leadership skills for days, we feel thrilled to welcome Nate on board BDDU Season 3.

What else do we know about new Below Deck Down Under bosun Nate Salmon?

We spent some time plucking through Nate’s Instagram account, learning many things about our new Season 3 department head. In his bio, Nate includes his bosun job title. And through his reels, we see where Nate has landed, complete with thirst traps in tiny speedos, which we support. We also support all good time narratives, and luckily for us, Nate has a great sense of humor, posing and penning equally cheeky posts on his socials.

We saw his good nature emerging in Episode 11, AKA his first episode. “As a child, I had two older sisters. I grew up getting dressed like a princess. I grew up getting makeup put on me [and] getting water polo balls pegged at my head,” he breezily explained.

“Strong women” raised Nate. Therefore, he feels “grateful because it taught me how to listen. How to be positive, fair, and easygoing,” Nate noted. Already, Nate is a cut above his predecessor on Bravo.

Nate is more than just a competent bosun, however. As he revealed, his other skills include “Terrible (amazing) dad jokes and puns, lock-picking, and ski instructing.” With these specific, random skills and life experiences, Nate seems like a solid fit as the new bosun for BDDU Season 3.

How did Nate Salmon do as bosun on his first episode of Below Deck Down Under Season 3?

Nate has only been on the scene for less than one episode, but already, his presence is turning heads in all the right ways. “I just want a happy environment, but we’re gonna work,” Captain Jason explained in their first meeting. Captain Jason further explained that he “leads by example,” so he expects Nate to do the same.” Without missing a beat, Nate replied, “Fantastic. That’s what I always do.”

During his first job as the new bosun, Nate led his deck team in its first dock departure with no issues. “I cannot believe how smooth it went,” Captain Jason said in his confessional. “Nate, straight away, I can see he understands. Yeah, he’s a good bloke,” Captain Jason gushed.

Lara Rigby is also gushing over this new bosun. To backtrack, Wihan loathed helping other departments. But Nate moves differently. When Nate lent Lara his hand in the interior, Captain Jason saw, quipping, “I think we’re on the right path here.”

But then, the BDDU midseason trailer dropped, showing a new storyline ahead for Nate. In this trailer, we see a boatmance forming between Alesia and Nate. While this narrative is acceptable, this fling might distract Alesia and Nate, both newer hires on Bravo, from their work. But we will not get ahead of ourselves, as, for now, all is calm and bright enough on BDDU Season 3, and this fact is all we need.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.

Following a to-be-continued pause, we are back with our Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11 recap. “The Shots You Don’t Take” picks up where last week left off, showcasing the aftermath of a fight between Wihan and Harry, Wihan and Johnny, Wihan and Lara, and Wihan and the entire viewing audience in general. Captain Jason now has to intervene, which means plane tickets home are coming. But will this crew react kindly to their newest hires, or can we expect to find additional drama on the horizon? Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 11.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11?

Captain Jason fires Wihan and Johnny. Meanwhile, tensions are rising between Lara and Tzarina. Nevertheless, the crew does their best to move forward as two new crew members come on board, shifting their dynamics. But one new hire messes up badly on his first day of work, which might result in another early exit this season on BDDU.

Captain Jason sends Johnny away for a night, bringing him back in the morning for his firing

Captain Jason fears he has a loose cannon on board, so he sends Johnny to a hotel for the night. They will “chat about it in the morning,” Captain Jason remarks. “Yes, sir,” Johnny answers.

Growing concerned for her beau, a “gutted” Alesia calls Wihan, who labels Johnny “crazy.” Everyone then heads to bed, shaken by these events. In the morning, Captain Jason meets with Lara, who explains that Alesia accidentally crawled into bed with Wihan, thinking he was Johnny. Captain Jason brings Alesia to the wheelhouse, telling her she did nothing wrong.

Correct. But Wihan did. He knew Alesia was looking for Johnny. But instead of correcting her bed-crawling antics, Wihan hugged Alesia tightly, relishing his wrong fantasy about being a magnet for all ladies.

Not shockingly, Wihan retells this narrative to Adair differently, trying to say he thought Alesia wanted him, not Johnny. This man is stressful AF. Own something, Wihan. ANYTHING, please.

Then, Lara tells Captain Jason that Wihan also messed with Harry. Captain Jason heads off to interview Harry and then Tzarina. Both equally blame Wihan, not Johnny. Wihan enters the galley, blaming everyone but himself, as Johnny reboards to chat with Captain Jason.

Johnny gets the boot, a fate that he understands and respects. Before his exit, he makes peace with a “heartbroken” Alesia.

Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge for another firing

After seeing Johnny off the yacht, Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge. Once seated, Captain Jason tells Wihan he had several enlightening conversations that morning with other yachties. Shockingly confused, Wihan launches into a monologue about how helpful and positive he always is, so anyone who speaks poorly is mistaken. Thankfully, Captain Jason interjects, telling Wihan that changes need to happen.

Captain Jason fires Wihan. In his confessional, Wihan again stresses that he did his best, so if anyone is unappreciative, “so be it.” In her interview, Adair acknowledges that Wihan was the problem all along.

Captain Jason calls for the crew to meet in the main salon. He informs them that Johnny and Wihan are gone, and their replacements will follow. Then, they board their vans and head out for a fun day to unwind following this double-firing mess.

At a turtle sanctuary, the crew gushes over baby turtles while Captain Jason arranges for a new deckhand and bosun to arrive by the following morning. He leaves afterward, allowing his crew members time to unwind at a nearby beach.

Tensions mount in the galley as Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan come on board

Harry snags an invite to the preference sheet meeting the following morning. The guests want a mob wives-themed party, which excites Lara and Tzarina. These girls are also excited about their new approaching male crew members. Bosun Nate Salmon arrives first, and he seems chill and competent, which we love.

Deckhand Nicolas Cattelan arrives second. He is green, but Captain Jason is not scared. Following a few Star Trek comparisons regarding his new yacht, we are not afraid either. We like both men (so far).

Alesia is still grieving Johnny. Her head is not in the game, and her hands are on her phone, texting her departed man. Tzarina kindly clocks this as Lara enters, hugging Alesia.

Lara makes a Brady Bunch joke, which Marina fails to understand. Lara explains this old sitcom, describing one of the sisters as a “bit quirky, like Tzarina.” Tzarina overhears, sighing. She then explains that she always wanted to be popular, as the cutest childhood images ever flash by.

Tzarina was hoping she and Lara might bond. But this wish is now slowly dying.

The new and improved deck team is off to a solid start, but drama still exists in the interior department

As the crew prepares for their next charter, Nate is already on the case, helping in the interior like Wihan could never. The all-girls charter arrives at the yacht as the new deck team smoothly guides the vessel away from the dock.

Captain Jason approaches Marina, who jokes with him about his missing socks. Finally, Marina’s humor lands with her boss. Captain Jason finds Lara next, asking her to give Marina a shot at service. Lara says yes, but in her interview, she admits she needs to play her “best cards,” which is not always Marina.

The guests enjoy water toys as Nicolas waves them off, joking under his breath that they cannot see his efforts. As they head off to shower and get ready for dinner, the crew prepares for their mob wives-themed dinner. But Lara does not like the dishes Tzarina chose. They get into a small tit-for-tat as a giggly Nicolas overhears while walking to his cabin.

Despite the plates’ debacle, their unaware guests love their dinner. However, while serving, Lara and Tzarina get into another verbal scuffle over timing, which Captain Jason overhears. Things might get ugly soon, but we will hold out hope that we are wrong.

On deck, Nicolas entertains their guests with drinking games. He is awkward, he candidly notes. But when a guest orders him to take a shot, he complies, which Bri sees. Bri pulls Nicolas in, quietly letting him know of his error.

Nicolas is mad at himself. He is telling on himself tomorrow, he reveals. Hey, at least he’s accountable.

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 is still airing on Bravo, but that minor detail is not stopping the network from releasing intel on their currently filming Season 4. Based on the one image and explainer statement released, we now know that Daisy Kelliher, Chef Ben Robinson, and the entire cast of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City are all coming on board!

As BDDU Season 3 continues sailing into murky waters, take heart as a (hopefully) brighter Season 4 is underway. From crossovers to returning fan favorites on this newer Below Deck spin-off, fans are excited for Season 4 of BDDU. Let’s break down what Bravo just released.

Daisy Kelliher and Chef Ben Robinson are joining the cast of Below Deck Down Under Season 4

Bravo just did us a solid favor over on Instagram. We will get to the Real Housewives aspect in just a second. But first, look at this image. Immediately, you will see Daisy and Chef Ben standing at the side of Captain Jason Chambers.

Last year, Chef Ben hinted at his interest in returning to this franchise. His wishes have just come true, as Chef Ben is now on the yacht filming for BDDU Season 4. Sadly, this does mean that Tzarina Mace-Ralph is likely out. Unless she presents as his sous-chef, but it feels unlikely.

Chef Ben appeared in Seasons 1 through 4 of Below Deck. He has also starred in Season 1 and then Season 4 of Below Deck Mediterranean. His British wit, sass, and charm make for excellent television. But his skills in the galley set him apart, as almost every dish he puts out, the guests have loved.

We have not seen Chef Ben in ages. Having this man back on our screens in Season 4 of BDDU feels like an early Christmas gift, which we are eager to unwrap. But, can Chef Ben get along with Daisy, who is jumping ship from Below Deck Sailing Yacht to star alongside him on BDDU?

We hope so. Viewers want nothing more than for Daisy to leap and land into a safe and productive filming environment via BDDU.

The entire cast of RHOSLC Season 6 is also coming on board for a Below Deck Down Under Season 4 charter

RHOSLC cast

The last time we saw the ladies of RHOSLC, they were wading through their shifting friendships at the Season 5 reunion. Now, these women are filming on a yacht, blessing our lives with the first crossover of its kind on Bravo. As the network penned on their recent social media reveal, “ALL CREW, ALL CREW… Little Girl!” Mary and her cohorts are now on board. “Below Deck Down Under Season 4 just started filming with a first-ever Real Housewives crossover charter featuring the” entire cast of RHOSLC Season 6, Bravo added, sending viewers to the comments within seconds.

Sure, Heather Gay has already guested on the seemingly defunct series, Below Deck Adventure. But now, she is returning to this franchise with her entire cast, which marks the first full crossover between these two franchises.

While we only see Mary Cosby and Angie Katsanevas in their recent social media post, their words stress that their entire cast is present. The others are likely off lounging somewhere. Or fighting.

Daisy Kelliher’s Below Deck Down Under move likely means Sailing Yacht will receive a cast shakeup

BDSY is entering uncharted waters. Daisy has starred in this series since Season 2. At her side were always two blokes, but in Season 4, a love triangle blew this longstanding friends group up. After this storyline sank our sails, Colin MacRae exited filming ahead of Season 5.

His exit saw Daisy and Gary King struggling to make peace in Season 5. But this storyline was the least of their problems. As headlines continued mounting against Gary, threatening the future of BDSY, producers had no choice but to edit Gary out of certain scenes. What used to be a favorite Below Deck spin-off is now dragging its anchor across Bravo, as fans are growing weary of the toxic norms that have infiltrated this series.

While Daisy has never claimed to be perfect, her leader, Captain Glenn Shephard, often sided with Gary. His “subconsciously” motivated decisions sometimes made this series even more difficult to digest. Moving forward, the only thing that could save this series is a reboot, which would have left Daisy out to sea on Bravo.

But now, Daisy has seemingly found her life raft. With a new home away from home on BDDU, BDSY is far likelier to receive a much-needed cast shakeup.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.

Below Deck Down Under has reached a dangerous crossroads. As the newly released preview for BDDU Season 3, Episode 11 proves, Captain Jason Chambers will soon enter the chat via an investigation.

His bosun, Wihan du Toit, is growing messy with many people on board. In response, Johnny Arvanitis angrily lashed out at Wihan, causing fear in the girl’s cabin next door. As he needs clarification, Captain Jason has no choice but to launch this investigation to sort out who needs to get sent home early on BDDU.

Watch the Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11 sneak peek below

As the BDDU Season 3, Episode 11 preview shows, Captain Jason is horrified. During Episode 10, Wihan made Harry Van Vliet weep and contemplate quitting his position on deck. Several floors below, Johnny was punching his overhead cabinets while covering the cameras in his freshly locked cabin, frustrated with Wihan for his incessant flirtations.

As Johnny yells, Captain Jason emerges. The guys’ door opens, and Captain Jason enters. “I’m done,” Johnny announces. Johnny angrily exits his cabin as Captain Jason pleads with him not to cause any damage to the yacht.

“I don’t know what’s going on,” Captain Jason states in his confessional. “But this is not the Johnny I know,” he admits. Realizing that he has a loose cannon on board, Captain Jason sends Johnny to a hotel for the night. They will “chat about it in the morning,” Captain Jason remarks.

“Yes, sir,” Johnny answers. Growing concerned for her beau, a “gutted” Alesia Harris calls Wihan, who labels Johnny “crazy.” Everyone then heads to bed, shaken by these events.

Captain Jason meets with Lara Rigby on the bridge the following morning. Lara explains that Alesia accidentally crawled into bed with Wihan, thinking he was Johnny. Captain Jason brings Alesia to the wheelhouse. He tells her she did nothing wrong.

Alesia then leaves. Lara fills Captain Jason in on how Wihan also messed with Harry. Captain Jason heads off to interview Harry and then Tzarina Mace-Ralph, who equally blame Wihan, not Johnny. Wihan enters the galley, blaming everyone but himself, as Johnny reboards to chat with Captain Jason.

Following his investigation, Captain Jason fires Johnny. For now, Wihan is safe.
