Tzarina Mace-Ralph is having a rough go in Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under. She is on her second sous-chef, but tensions are starting to mount between this duo. Likewise, she and Lara Rigby are also feuding. Now, Tzarina is beginning to feel like this crew is pushing her out.

Episode 12 just aired on Bravo. Alesia Harris called Tzarina out for her poor communication skills. Then, Alesia entered a cabin to discuss this narrative with two other crew members. Unfortunately, Tzarina overheard their remarks, and their words greatly stung her heart.

Several beats before and after, Tzarina exchanged equally frustrating words with Lara. Lara wanted an excursion to go off without a hitch, which meant she thought Tzarina needed to attend. Tzarina reluctantly agreed, yet she only stayed a few minutes because her list of responsibilities back on board was long.

After Tzarina left this excursion at a local distillery, Alesia, Lara, and Brianna Duffield grew closer. Back on board, Lara praised Alesia for her work. But then, Alesia and Tzarina encountered the aforementioned communication roadblock, which led Alesia to seek comfort outside the galley with Lara and Bri.

“I don’t know if Lara is trying to mess with me right now, but she seems like she’s grooming my sous chef to be against me. And that’s not a friend. She should be supporting me,” Tzarina said in her confessional.

Sadly, things did not improve after this statement. By the end of BDDU Season 3, Episode 12, Tzarina sighs, sadly expressing in a separate confessional, “You just don’t give a sh*t about me.”

If you ask around, Lara is just as guilty of shady behaviors this season on BDDU. Now, hug it out, ladies.

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Lara Rigby are not getting along on Below Deck Down Under Season 3. Chief stewards and chefs almost always feud at some point during each season. Yet, Tzarina and Lara knew each other long before filming began, so you would think they should know how to deal with each other already. But still, here we sit, yelling at our screens because both women keep failing to make peace on Bravo.

As each episode airs, I typically start praising one while raising my eyebrows at another. By the end of each episode, my praises and punitive pauses have shifted no less than a handful of times. I enjoy them both, yet I find Tzarina and Lara equally at fault for their current divide in Season 3 of BDDU. I will explain my opinion on this messy matter now.

Tzarina Mace-Ralph is struggling with communication on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

In the galley, communication and timing skills are everything. Tzarina knows this, as she works with tiny time constraints on board the biggest yacht yet in this franchise. Things are getting tricky in these conditions, as each plate needs to arrive in front of its consumer quickly. If not, the temperatures of these dishes will fall, decreasing the dining experience.

Alesia Harris joins Tzarina in the galley, making her the second sous-chef in the history of this series. At first, these two got along swimmingly. Now, they are not faring well, thanks to a breakdown in communication in the galley.

During Episode 12, Tzarina fumed at Lara, as Lara insisted that Tzarina attend an excursion Alesia could have handled solo. Wanting to be liked and fit in with the popular girls has always been a struggle Tzarina faces, as she notes on BDDU. So, Tzarina bit her tongue and went, but when she returned to the yacht, she kept biting her sass box, resulting in Alesia calling out her failing communication skills in the galley.

Then, Lara and Brianna Duffield pulled Alesia into their cabin. Here, Alesia reiterated her communication-related frustrations. Overhearing, Tzarina apologized and explained that her silence was due to her annoyance(s) with Lara, not her. Alesia understood, and she and Tzarina made peace.

Tzarina also struggles with her communication skills with Lara. For example, in Episode 1, Tzarina asked Lara to ensure their guests had a knife and fork on the table. But when the guests needed a spoon, Tzarina shifted the blame onto Lara, whom production cleared via flashbacks.

Lara Rigby’s Below Deck Down Under confessionals aren’t always kind

Nearly everything that Lara Rigby said in her interviews shocked Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph #BelowDeckDownUnder #WWHL

After filming, Lara appeared on Watch What Happens Live. “The biggest hurdle we had was communication,” Lara shared, noting that Tzarina and her “galley was far away from where the service area was, so that was tricky.” This statement is not terrible. However, the same does not ring true of her other confessionals, which Tzarina acknowledged via a separate episode of WWHL.

When Tzarina and Lara boarded this season, Tzarina talked kindly about Lara in her confessionals. Lara is “fantastic,” Tzarina emphasized, noting that she and Lara worked together on a prior yacht. Excited, Tzarina pulled Lara in as her roommate onboard BDDU Season 3. However, Tzarina was honest, explaining, “We are much better as off-the-boat friends, but we’ve matured.”

Lara, however, was not as gracious towards Tzarina in her first talking head. Shading Tzarina, Lara explained that our chef is “an acquired taste,” like “Vegemite,” which people “either love” or “hate.” Then, Lara joked, “I’m like Barbie, and she’s like Weird Barbie.” Lara also unnecessarily revealed that, on their last boat, “not everyone liked Tzarina.”

During Episode 11, Lara cracked a Brady Bunch joke, describing one of the sisters as a “bit quirky, like Tzarina.” Tzarina heard this dig, and immediately, her face fell. Unlike that old childhood rhyme, sticks, stones, and names, ALL SUCK.

What has the Below Deck Down Under cast said about Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Lara Rigby?

Many BDDU Season 3 crew members have an opinion about the feud between Lara and Tzarina, including the problematic parties involved. In an exclusive interview with Reality Tea, Tzarina stated, “The problem is that with something like Below Deck, you can’t be perfect, and Lara has such an obsession with control and perfection. I think it overcomes her and takes over.”

Lara also sat down with us, stressing that her confessional comments “never intended” to cause Tzarina harm. Instead, her jokes were “playful,” which Lara assumed Tzarina would understand. “But, if I have offended her, it wasn’t my intention,” Lara emphasized.

Recently, Bri and Marina Marcondes de Barros appeared on WWHL. Playing the game, “What Do You Choose, Stews,” Andy Cohen asked the ladies who had Alesia’s best interests in mind this season, Tzarina or Lara. Without missing a beat, minus the three-second countdown, both girls answered Lara. When asked who gave off the worst mean-girl energy this season between these two non-freshwater-located fighters, the women chose Tzarina.

Nevertheless (in my opinion), both parties have amends to make at this time. Thankfully, BDDU Season 3 is still airing on Bravo.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Another week has come and gone, making it time for our Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12 recap. “Across Frenemy Lines” brings us back to the super yacht Katina, where, starting last week, two new men are turning the tide for the exterior team. In contrast, relations between the interior team and the galley are sinking. Lara has clear visions for how things must run, so last-minute change-ups and requests are not her bag, even though this narrative is starting to frustrate Marina, Tzarina, and Captain Jason. Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 12.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12?

Nicolas has already messed up royally, drinking with the guests during his first charter. But, unlike those who came before, Nicolas owns his mistakes. Now, Captain Jason has appreciative eyes trained on his newest deckhand, who remains safe (for now). Meanwhile, trouble is also brewing in the galley. Frustrations, pride, and misunderstood narratives are mounting, resulting in a conflict-filled episode of BDDU.

The crew awakens for another day, but Alesia remains tired. Tzarina notices.

Internally, Nicolas is struggling. He knows he messed up and that ignoring his actions might fly, yet Nicolas is not that kind of guy. As soon as he can, Nicolas plans on reporting his drunken shot to the captain.

The guests planned an excursion to a rum tasting and distillery tour, followed by a picnic lunch. A storm blows in, but this will not cancel their plans. In contrast, Captain Jason has a new plan to throw at Lara, asking her to place Marina on service during this outing. But Lara disagrees, telling her boss that Marina cannot “do service on her own.”

The camera pans to show Marina excelling solo with the guests as they eat breakfast on the sundeck. Back in the galley, Lara tells Captain Jason that Marina has never done service alone, so he asks her to give Marina a chance. In his interview, he notes that Lara needs to step outside her comfort zone.

The guests and first round of crew members (including Marina) depart, escorted away by a covered tender to help avoid the storm.

Lara heads to the galley, telling Tzarina to attend the picnic lunch. Tzarina, however, notes that the dishes for this excursion only need to be unwrapped and served, so the crew members in attendance do not need her nearby. Even still, Lara is adamant that Tzarina must attend. Tzarina relents and accepts, noting that she must be back on board early to prep dinner.

Lara suggests Alesia also attend to “help build” her confidence. Heading up to the sundeck, Lara next encounters Harry. She tells Harry that something is off with Tzarina.

Nicolas practices his shots-related speech using a Pirates of the Caribbean reference. He then explains that he got into yachting courtesy of his father, a professional windsurfer and kitesurfer who now works as a captain in the Mediterranean. His equally attractive father hates rules, but as he admits, Nicolas moves oppositely. Proving this point, Nicolas heads to the wheelhouse to turn himself in.

On the excursion, Marina busts her tail to wow their charter guests. Tzarina and Alesia arrive. As Marina serves rum, Tzarina uncovers her dishes and runs. As she explains, the boat is over an hour away, so Tzarina must head back now to ensure everything runs smoothly later.

After Tzarina bolts, Adair asks Alesia if she is okay. In response, Alesia states that she can uncover dishes. This response is what Tzarina tried to state to Lara earlier. But Alesia remains bothered, and Tzarina seems to be the one she feels annoyed by.

In the wheelhouse, Nicolas tells on himself. Thankfully, Captain Jason repays his honesty with grace. His job is safe.

Tzarina returns to the yacht following the excursion, frustrated with Lara

Back onboard, Tzarina tells Lara that this excursion was the “biggest waste” of her time. Lara asks if Tzarina went before the “food got taken out?” Confused, Tzarina answers yes. In her interview, Lara quips, “I wish Tzarina had been more passionate about serving the guests lunch than serving me this sh*tty attitude.”

The guests return. They loved their expedition. Alesia heads to the galley, where Tzarina is extra quiet. Alesia wants to help, yet the only reply she gets from Tzarina is a nod and a saying that all is well.

Nicolas tells everyone what he did and how the captain reacted. This crew likes Nicolas, so everyone feels thankful he kept his gig.

Lara enters, praising Alesia for her service during the excursion. Alesia was glad to go, yet she knew a lot needed to happen back on the yacht. Lara waves her concerns away. In her talking head, Tzarina states that Lara seems to be “grooming” Alesia to turn against her in the galley.

Several beats later, Harry asks Tzarina if she and Lara are getting along. Tzarina answers that she thinks all is well, but when she asks Harry why he questioned her about this friendship, Harry fibs, telling her no one brought this to his ear.

As the guests head to the dinner table, Alesia attempts small talk with Tzarina. Tzarina answers her questions kindly, but her words are few. Alesia somewhat snaps, telling Tzarina she cannot go an entire night like this “because it’s depressing.” Tzarina looks confused but tells Alesia that she is exhausted, nothing more or less.

In the crew galley, Marina encounters Nicolas. Nicolas finds Marina “adorable,” he admits, joking in his talking head that he never approached women while growing up. Laughing, Nicolas gives God thanks for feminism because bold women helped him out with his game.

The crew lines up to grab plates from Tzarina. Tzarina goes over what the guests are about to eat so they can parrot these words back to their guests. However, her explanation is wordy, causing Lara to roll her eyes.

Alesia retreats to her cabin for a moment of silence. Shortly after, thanks to editing, the guests also head to their rooms for bed.

Alesia heads to the galley in the morning. Tzarina gives her a task, which Alesia seeks clarification on. Alesia explains that she has “no idea” what is happening in Tzarina’s head, yet she feels like she is walking on eggshells at work now. Tzarina listens, stating she will tell Alesia more moving forward.

Lurking in the next room, hearing everything, Harry smiles, amused at their low-stakes drama. On deck, Nate teaches Adair as a capable bosun should. Speaking of capable, Tzarina is in the galley, licking water from her tumbler like a competent cat. I, too, wish to lurk inside her brain.

The guests depart. They loved their charter.

Marina finds Nicolas cute, but Adair reveals a secret that gives Marina pause

While turning the boat over, Marina tells Adair that she finds Nicolas cute. But this deck/stew has a secret. Nic has already started to “party with a guest,” Adair reveals. Shocked and disappointed, Marina listens as Adair continues, telling Marina that Nicolas already confessed everything to the captain.

Once Adair gets to the part of his actual sins, AKA drinking a shot with this guest in question, Marina looks relieved. Words matter, all. In her interview, Marina labels Nic a nerd, admitting she loves his honesty.

The crew, however, does not love their 15k tip. But Nicolas treasures the disco ball helmet, which Captain Jason hands him following his authentic showings. In their talking heads, the crew also applauds Nic while joking about how he presents. Nicolas is new, but he is already a winner on BDDU.

Similarly, Harry is winning on deck. Nate makes Harry the lead deckhand.

Tzarina walks in on a heated conversation while Marina and Nicolas bring the heat to the dance floor

Bri pulls Alesia into her cabin. Once there, Lara asks Alesia how work is going. Alesia says that communication is lacking. Tzarina enters, catching their gossip session red-handed. She reflects in her confessional, slamming Lara for her “b*tchy schoolgirl attitude.”

Tzarina exits. Lara tells Alesia that a good leader cares about others. Interjecting, Alesia concedes that Tzarina does care for her.

Bri climbs into bed with Harry. A few floors above, Alesia and Nate chat in the hot tub. Nate leaves, giggling with Nicolas in their cabin about how big a fan he is of Alesia.

The crew heads out. Nicolas sits by Marina, admiring how her feet swing instead of reaching the floor. Also sitting side-by-side are Alesia and Nate, but Alesia misses Johnny, she divulges. When Alesia gets up for a smoke, Tzarina follows.

Alesia finally tells Tzarina how bothered she is. Hearing her, Tzarina explains her stressors before apologizing to Alesia. For now, the galley team is okay. Also okay are Marina and Nicolas, kissing on the dance floor as their fellow yachties cheer.

Lara approaches Alesia, asking her how her talk with Tzarina went. Alesia answers, telling her all is fine, but, as Tzarina clocked, tensions are typically high in this industry for chefs. Lara shuts this narrative down, telling Alesia, “It doesn’t have to be like that.”

Lara finds Tzarina next. Tzarina states that she has to say yes to Lara to make her back down, like with the plates issue. As Lara repeats that she was right about that, Tzarina announces that she feels “done.”

The midseason trailer for Below Deck Down Under Season 3 just dropped. While Captain Jason Chambers hoped to move forward, this trailer teases that a few backward steps might still be in play.

A recent double-firing just left this cast rocked. Thankfully, two replacement crew members arrived quickly to fill in these gaps. However, the verdict is out on whether or not these new hires will help turn their yacht around.

Nevertheless, Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan are now on board. But, as the midseason trailer teases, Nicolas might want to unpack his bags slowly. His early exit might lie just around another approaching corner.

The infection’s gone. We have some fresh faces. Time to fix it, time to move on,” Captain Jason says as the BDDU midseason trailer begins. We then see this grinning man saunter out in his Speedos to help appease his charter guests (alongside the entire viewing audience).

Clips of entertaining themed parties and deck games pass, showing everyone enjoying themselves on board the largest yacht ever, Katina. Then, we see Nate flirting with Alesia, who is now fair game after the firing of her original Season 3 beau.

“Johnny’s gone,” Alesia says in her confessional, adding that Johnny felt “like the angel on my shoulder.” However, Alesia notes that she “resonates more with the devil.”

As the midseason trailer shows, his shot-taking misstep in Episode 11 might cost Nicolas his job. Similarly, tensions are brewing between Lara Rigby and Tzarina Mace-Ralph, causing Lara to question her longevity on board.

Likewise, Harry Van Vliet and Brianna Duffield are still unmarked as safe, as the midseason trailer shows Bri crying after Harry announces that he does not wish to label their relationship. Yet, Harry does want the lead deckhand label, but as the hot tub overflows onto his deck and a tender gets beached on the sand, Captain Jason has to remind his deckhand, “You’ve got to earn your stripes, brother.”

Following a to-be-continued pause, we are back with our Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11 recap. “The Shots You Don’t Take” picks up where last week left off, showcasing the aftermath of a fight between Wihan and Harry, Wihan and Johnny, Wihan and Lara, and Wihan and the entire viewing audience in general. Captain Jason now has to intervene, which means plane tickets home are coming. But will this crew react kindly to their newest hires, or can we expect to find additional drama on the horizon? Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 11.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11?

Captain Jason fires Wihan and Johnny. Meanwhile, tensions are rising between Lara and Tzarina. Nevertheless, the crew does their best to move forward as two new crew members come on board, shifting their dynamics. But one new hire messes up badly on his first day of work, which might result in another early exit this season on BDDU.

Captain Jason sends Johnny away for a night, bringing him back in the morning for his firing

Captain Jason fears he has a loose cannon on board, so he sends Johnny to a hotel for the night. They will “chat about it in the morning,” Captain Jason remarks. “Yes, sir,” Johnny answers.

Growing concerned for her beau, a “gutted” Alesia calls Wihan, who labels Johnny “crazy.” Everyone then heads to bed, shaken by these events. In the morning, Captain Jason meets with Lara, who explains that Alesia accidentally crawled into bed with Wihan, thinking he was Johnny. Captain Jason brings Alesia to the wheelhouse, telling her she did nothing wrong.

Correct. But Wihan did. He knew Alesia was looking for Johnny. But instead of correcting her bed-crawling antics, Wihan hugged Alesia tightly, relishing his wrong fantasy about being a magnet for all ladies.

Not shockingly, Wihan retells this narrative to Adair differently, trying to say he thought Alesia wanted him, not Johnny. This man is stressful AF. Own something, Wihan. ANYTHING, please.

Then, Lara tells Captain Jason that Wihan also messed with Harry. Captain Jason heads off to interview Harry and then Tzarina. Both equally blame Wihan, not Johnny. Wihan enters the galley, blaming everyone but himself, as Johnny reboards to chat with Captain Jason.

Johnny gets the boot, a fate that he understands and respects. Before his exit, he makes peace with a “heartbroken” Alesia.

Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge for another firing

After seeing Johnny off the yacht, Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge. Once seated, Captain Jason tells Wihan he had several enlightening conversations that morning with other yachties. Shockingly confused, Wihan launches into a monologue about how helpful and positive he always is, so anyone who speaks poorly is mistaken. Thankfully, Captain Jason interjects, telling Wihan that changes need to happen.

Captain Jason fires Wihan. In his confessional, Wihan again stresses that he did his best, so if anyone is unappreciative, “so be it.” In her interview, Adair acknowledges that Wihan was the problem all along.

Captain Jason calls for the crew to meet in the main salon. He informs them that Johnny and Wihan are gone, and their replacements will follow. Then, they board their vans and head out for a fun day to unwind following this double-firing mess.

At a turtle sanctuary, the crew gushes over baby turtles while Captain Jason arranges for a new deckhand and bosun to arrive by the following morning. He leaves afterward, allowing his crew members time to unwind at a nearby beach.

Tensions mount in the galley as Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan come on board

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11

Harry snags an invite to the preference sheet meeting the following morning. The guests want a mob wives-themed party, which excites Lara and Tzarina. These girls are also excited about their new approaching male crew members. Bosun Nate Salmon arrives first, and he seems chill and competent, which we love.

Deckhand Nicolas Cattelan arrives second. He is green, but Captain Jason is not scared. Following a few Star Trek comparisons regarding his new yacht, we are not afraid either. We like both men (so far).

Alesia is still grieving Johnny. Her head is not in the game, and her hands are on her phone, texting her departed man. Tzarina kindly clocks this as Lara enters, hugging Alesia.

Lara makes a Brady Bunch joke, which Marina fails to understand. Lara explains this old sitcom, describing one of the sisters as a “bit quirky, like Tzarina.” Tzarina overhears, sighing. She then explains that she always wanted to be popular, as the cutest childhood images ever flash by.

Tzarina was hoping she and Lara might bond. But this wish is now slowly dying.

The new and improved deck team is off to a solid start, but drama still exists in the interior department

As the crew prepares for their next charter, Nate is already on the case, helping in the interior like Wihan could never. The all-girls charter arrives at the yacht as the new deck team smoothly guides the vessel away from the dock.

Captain Jason approaches Marina, who jokes with him about his missing socks. Finally, Marina’s humor lands with her boss. Captain Jason finds Lara next, asking her to give Marina a shot at service. Lara says yes, but in her interview, she admits she needs to play her “best cards,” which is not always Marina.

The guests enjoy water toys as Nicolas waves them off, joking under his breath that they cannot see his efforts. As they head off to shower and get ready for dinner, the crew prepares for their mob wives-themed dinner. But Lara does not like the dishes Tzarina chose. They get into a small tit-for-tat as a giggly Nicolas overhears while walking to his cabin.

Despite the plates’ debacle, their unaware guests love their dinner. However, while serving, Lara and Tzarina get into another verbal scuffle over timing, which Captain Jason overhears. Things might get ugly soon, but we will hold out hope that we are wrong.

On deck, Nicolas entertains their guests with drinking games. He is awkward, he candidly notes. But when a guest orders him to take a shot, he complies, which Bri sees. Bri pulls Nicolas in, quietly letting him know of his error.

Nicolas is mad at himself. He is telling on himself tomorrow, he reveals. Hey, at least he’s accountable.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 10 brings us to the dramatic, long-teased argument between Wihan and Johnny. This week, via an episode titled “Greek Tragedy,” we finally see what happens once a yachtie stops being polite and starts getting real with their failing superior. Last week, Lara also grew frustrated with Wihan, plus one of her stews, causing Captain Jason to enter both chats. Now, tensions below deck are reaching dangerous levels, so Captain Jason will soon have some serious decisions regarding the longevity of various crew members this season. Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 10.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 10?

During Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 10, Wihan twisted several narratives, causing dissension amongst his fellow yachties. In contrast, their rowdy charter exited, thankfully pleased with their vacation. Even still, Wihan remains accountability-less, throwing Harry under the yacht in addition to certain females on board. Johnny sees red, and when the captain hears about this, someone on the deck team will likely get fired.

Captain Jason encourages Wihan to do better, but a flash-forward event between 11:57 pm and 12:13 am teases his failures

BDDU Season 3 Episode 10 starts with a flash-forward, showing Harry breaking down on deck at 11:57 pm. Several floors below, Johnny is also breaking down at 12:13 pm, throwing his fist into his overhead cabinets as Wihan watches. Then, Johnny eerily covers their camera with his shirt.

The screen reads “16 hours earlier,” returning us to Wihan and his wheelhouse whining. After listening to his not-me cries, Captain Jason urges Wihan to step up his game.

After his attempts at getting Lara fired fail, Wihan heads to find Harry as the ticker reveals that it is now 9:27 am, roughly 14 hours before the teased sh*t hits the fan. Wihan discovers Harry in the galley, where Harry explains that he started his morning shift after visiting the whiteboard, focusing first on the unchecked areas Johnny left. Wihan interjects, telling Harry that from now on, the cleaning of the sundeck needs to be the main priority.

After a brief flirt with Tzarina, Wihan heads to the deck to speak with his team. Johnny tells Wihan that he worked his tail off by himself the night prior, but Wihan still finds fault, telling Johnny he also works hard, so he did not have time to check over his work until it was too late. The cameras pan to show Wihan not working hard (at all) that morning. Instead, Wihan was flirting with Adair in the galley.

Wihan continues speaking poorly of others as Marina takes accountability with Captain Jason

Captain Jason finds Lara to get her take on everything. Lara tells him that Wihan deflects blame often. She and Captain Jason note this is not how a leader should behave.

Back on deck, Wihan whines to Johnny about Lara. In response, Johnny flips the script, pointing out how Wihan is too “sensual” with the ladies. Wihan laughs him off.

Captain Jason also remains annoyed with Marina, whom he calls next to his wheelhouse. Captain Jason tells Marina that her comments to him have felt disrespectful. Marina agrees, humbly apologizing for her missteps. Appreciative, Captain Jason digs deeper, asking Marina about her team.

Marina then admits she desires to work on the service detail more. However, Lara is growing defensive towards her, which Marina does not like. Captain Jason shuts Marina down by telling her that he also spoke to Lara about this. In his mind, Marina is in the wrong for growing pissy with her boss in front of other crew members.

Marina then nods, agreeing to show Captain Jason growth. Marina is thankful she is not getting fired.

The charter guests depart as tensions continue mounting on board

Cindy, one of the guests, is ticking off William, the primary. She is not ready for breakfast, so she wants it pushed back. William labels Cindy as “demanding.” William asks Lara to bring out some of the breakfast, not all, so Lara radios these changes to Tzarina.

Unfortunately, Tzarina already has everything made. It must get served now. Alesia is growing tired of the dynamics between Tzarina and Lara. It is now 10:26 in the morning.

Harry offloads the tender for the guest’s departure. He does so as he sees fit, which is not the way Wihan requests. On the radio, Wihan admonishes Harry as all other crew members listen in. Captain Jason gets on the line, asking them to show respect.

Harry responds to another radio call, letting Wihan know that the orange jet ski is without fuel. Wihan condescendingly claps back before talking trash about Harry with Johnny.

The charter guests depart, leaving a $25,000 tip and only positive notes for the crew. In their tip meeting, Captain Jason urges everyone to stop passing blame.

Tomorrow, the crew is getting a day off at a private beach. They are thrilled. It is now 3:07 pm.

Wihan and Adair go on a date as Tzarina reveals intel that threatens their budding boatmance

Wihan lamely texts Tzarina, announcing he has a date with Adair. However, Wihan is nervous that Adair does not like him as he likes her. Tzarina sighs.

In their cabin, Wihan takes a loud swig of water. Harry turns, telling Wihan that his earlier tone on the radio was not great. Wihan tells Harry to leave him alone unless something is wrong.

In contrast, Lara and Bri are taking a cuddly nap in their cabin. Lara vents to Bri about Wihan before Tzarina enters, making them giggle at her unseriousness. Next door, Wihan tells Johnny that when “women reach a certain age, they don’t have anything going for them anymore,” minus envy, which is how he thinks Lara feels for him. Johnny disagrees. Johnny can live.

Wihan and Adair depart for their date as Johnny steals a quick kiss from Alesia, who asks him if they can later snuggle in his bunk. It is now 6:29 pm. The crew, minus Wihan and Adair, travels to a restaurant. On their date, Adair is happy, but Wihan is not her norm, she notes in her talking head.

The time is now 9:23 pm.

Wihan texts Tzarina from his date, saying he cannot get a read on Adair. Tzarina texts him back. Their texts continue throughout his date, making the other crew members annoyed. Tzarina agrees, telling them Wihan grabbed her ass and kissed her neck earlier.

Johnny looks disgusted. He tells his crew that he spoke to Wihan about his flirtations. Johnny hates “all this bullsh*t,” he quips. On cue, Wihan and Adair join them from their date.

Lara tells Adair what Tzarina revealed. Adair is upset.

The time is 9:41 pm.

Johnny fills Wihan in on the gossip, angering Wihan

Tzarina checks in with Johnny. Johnny appreciates Wihan but thinks Harry lacks initiative. Johnny then finds Wihan, letting him know Tzarina told the table about his butt grab and dinner time texts. Wihan rolls his eyes, blaming Tzarina like a never-wrong champion.

Johnny disagrees, telling Wihan he needs to stop doing “stupid stuff.” Wihan wrongly responds, “Maybe I should stop being so nice to girls.” Um, what?

Wihan notes he would not flirt with Alesia. The time is 11:03 pm.

Tzarina finds Harry, parroting back what Johnny said. Harry is annoyed. The crew heads back to the yacht. It is now 11:30 pm.

Wihan calls Harry an instigator in their cabin, telling Harry to “be careful.” Johnny steps in, asking them to keep things peaceful. Wihan whirls around, ignoring Johnny while telling Harry to stop talking behind his back to the interior. Harry remains respectful, simply saying “okay.”

But still, Wihan rises, telling Harry that he has “had enough,” so “this is it.” Biting his tongue, Harry says he understands. Even still, Wihan continues, telling Harry he brings a “bad vibe” to the yacht. Harry calmly admits that he does not understand what he did.

The music darkens. Wihan tells Harry to “stop what you are doing. STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING, NOW, PLEASE,” he yells, while a still-calm Harry asks again for an explanation. Instead of answering, Wihan grows louder, causing Harry to exit.

Tzarina brings Harry a beer. Crying, Harry recalls what just happened, saying he wants to quit. Tzarina pulls him in for a tight hug. It is now 11:57 pm.

Johnny snaps as the crew scrambles to make sense of the deck team’s demise

Harry continues crying. In their cabin, Wihan ponders why he works with such “stupid people.” Johnny reminds Wihan to stay calm.

The girls (minus Tzarina) are oblivious, living their best drunken lives on the yacht. Johnny approaches Harry. Harry’s tears break him. Johnny wants his team to find peace.

Johnny joins the ladies in the hot tub, filling them in on everything. He hates being in the middle. He gets up to find Harry again. Luckily, Tzarina is still with Harry, so she shuts Johnny down, telling him Wihan IS the only problem on board.

Tzarina and Lara take Harry to a guest cabin. Johnny follows, but Lara steps in, asking Johnny to give Harry space. These girls have fought with Wihan, so they understand his valid feelings, they state.

The time is now 12:13 am.

Alesia knocks on the boy’s door. She wakes Wihan, thinking it is Johnny. Alesia crawls into Wihan’s arms. Johnny enters, shocking Alesia into sobriety.

Johnny exits. He returns once Alesia also exits, telling Wihan he quits. Wihan acts innocent, asking Johnny to talk to him. Johnny snaps, locking their door before yelling, “DON’T F*CKING TALK TO ME,” while punching his overhead cabinets. The girls overhear, crying and growing concerned in their cabin.

“This boat is f*cking mental,” Johnny says, covering their in-room camera with his shirt. The screen darkens, announcing, TO BE CONTINUED.

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Things are heating up on Below Deck Down Under Season 3. Soon, firings might need to happen, as certain crew members are starting to grow far too comfortable in their positions onboard. While comfort is good, if growth, accountability, and an eagerness to lend a hand wherever help is needed are lacking, problems will quickly form. This cause-and-effect relationship is what we are now witnessing in BDDU Season 3.

The trailer for this season teases that a firing might soon take place. In one scene, the three department heads sit, awaiting their fates. That said, we will mark Tzarina Mace-Ralph as safe (for now). But the other two leaders in that wheelhouse still carry unknown futures in this series.

In addition to these two yachties, three other crew members are making me pause. One acted aggressively in the trailer with his boss. The other two are starting to stand up to their superiors as Season 3 airs. While their frustrations are valid, hierarchy is king in this industry, as is the ability to maintain a level head.

But, out of these five yachties, who is the most likely to get fired?

Wihan du Toit is the most likely crew member to get fired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8

Wihan du Toit has an important gig as the bosun on BDDU Season 3. But if you ask us, he is the most likely crew member to go home early. His resume is solid. However, his leadership skills are lacking.

During Episode 5, members of his deck team warned Wihan about a waterlogged jet ski. Wihan waved this issue off, sending this ski into deep waters with a guest who could not swim on top. After her ski capsized, Captain Jason Chambers called Wihan to his wheelhouse. Here, Wihan dodged accountability, which the captain called out.

Wihan has also faced some boatmance drama this season. When he fell for someone else, Wihan placed his needs above the yacht, taking time off the boat to pine and compose a love letter as his deck team worked without him. But most recently, Wihan refused to help the interior department, telling his team to act busy in the presence of Lara Rigby, the chief stew. Now, Lara feels tired, as Wihan is doing his best to throw her under the bus with their boss, who is thankfully not buying his statements.

If you ask me, Wihan has the highest chance of receiving an early plane ticket home from BDDU Season 3.

Marina Marcondes de Barros could also be fired from Below Deck Down Under after Captain Jason controversy

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Marina Marcondes de Barros

Marina Marcondes de Barros is over it. Housekeeping is boring. Yet, housekeeping is where Marina keeps finding herself as Season 3 of BDDU airs. She has asked Lara to place her on service more. In response, Lara has reminded Marina that she gets to serve breakfast, but this is not enough for Marina, who also desires to come out of the hull at night.

Marina works hard. Therefore, her feelings are justified. However, due to her frustrations, Marina is growing short with Lara. Respect is everything in this industry, so Lara is now less than thrilled with her stew.

Additionally, Marina has also grown short and sassy with Captain Jason. When her superior tried to help her move suitcases, Marina noted that her system was different. The captain overrode her response.

Later, Marina joked about his crankiness. Unfortunately, her wisecrack landed poorly. Captain Jason and Lara are raising their eyebrows at Marina now, which might signal her firing on BDDU Season 3.

Adair Werley might be fired from Below Deck Down Under if Lara Rigby has her way

Adair Werley

Adair Werley is finding herself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Her responsibilities are ever-changing, as she works in a deck/stew position on BDDU Season 3. That said, her bosun Wihan (literally) loves her, while her chief stew, Lara, loves her slightly less.

In the galley, Adair stood up for Marina. She watched Marina ask for further service opportunities, then grew annoyed as her requests got denied. Adair then questioned Lara, who promptly shut Adair down.

Then, Adair took a coffee break while on duty, which Captain Jason called her out on. As a response, Adair grew defensive with her main boss. Her defenses were also up when Marina questioned her over her unwillingness to clean bathrooms on the yacht. While Adair is not likely to get fired, if she and Lara continue butting heads over her performances, or lack thereof, in the interior department, her firing might arrive.

Johnny Arvanitis is a wildcard for firing after the Below Deck Down Under Season 3 trailer

Johnny Arvanitis - BDDU Season 3

Johnny Arvanitis is nailing his job as a deckhand. He also treats Wihan respectfully, even though Wihan continually shifts responsibility onto his team when speaking with Captain Jason. Likewise, Johnny encourages Tzarina, whose anxiety sometimes gets the best of her. Johnny also respects boundaries with his crush on board, so why is this man a candidate for an early jaunt home on BDDU Season 3?

In the trailer for BDDU Season 3, Johnny aggressively punches an overhead cabinet in the cabin he shares with Wihan. He then yells and curses at Wihan, telling him to stop talking. Wihan looked shocked, and so were we, as Wihan and Johnny had yet to share any issues on board.

The storylines next week should clarify this storyline. But, as tempers and cursing at your boss are typically frowned upon behaviors on superyachts, we have to now label Johnny as our firing wildcard for BDDU Season 3.

Lara Rigby’s Below Deck Down Under firing is unlikely for the crew

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Lara Rigby

Lara Rigby is doing an excellent job as the newest chief stew on BDDU. In her inaugural season on Bravo, however, Lara stepped into the grandest interior ever on this franchise. But, since she only received two and a half stews, her workload is falling behind. Her thinly stretched frustrations have since led to MANY frustrating conversations with Wihan.

Lara needs help. Wihan needs breaks. He also needs his deck team to be left alone, so he is instructing his deckhands to stay busy to disallow assistance to Lara. Thankfully, most of his team has failed to honor his selfish request.

Sadly, Captain Jason has since entered this narrative. So far, he appears far more frustrated with Wihan. Even still, as the trailer for BDDU Season 3 teased, either Wihan, Lara, or Tzarina will next get the boot. Therefore, we cannot mark Lara as safe just yet, but if you ask us, her chances are slim to none of a firing.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.

Taking part in a show like Below Deck Down Under is no easy task. And for Season 3 chief stewardess Lara Rigby, she was stepping into a major role, both on the franchise’s biggest superyacht to-date, and with the Bravo fandom.

“It was scary,” she said in an exclusive chat with Reality Tea. “There’s a lot of pressure. Obviously, Aesha [Scott’s] a huge TV personality and part of the Below Deck family. Those are big shoes to fill, but I was excited to bring a new energy and style.”

Now two months into the third season of Below Deck Down Under, fans are impressed. Lara is a no-nonsense chief stew, who’s consistent in putting her job and the guests first. But how will the rest of the season go, as her tension with bosun Wihan du Toit ramps up?

Lara Rigby found Wihan du Toit challenging to work with on Below Deck Down Under

“I’ve worked in the industry a long time and with some fantastic deck teams,” Lara told us. “I’m used to someone being on it and I think sometimes the ball was dropped on the deck department. It was frustrating for me to see those things and not say anything. Eventually, it gets to the point where I had to say something, because it just wasn’t getting done.”

Despite being a head of department, Lara felt Wihan was too “laidback.” Not something that always works when you have to lead by example.

As for Wihan’s priorities? “I would say finding a wife, from what I’ve seen,” Lara joked. “Or a few of them! I don’t really know what his goal is there, but it definitely wasn’t the job at that point. His main focus is Adair [Werley]. He’s tested the water on a few of the others, but I think love is his main goal right now.”

And he probably shouldn’t think about writing Lara her own love letter. “It made me feel a bit sick! That would’ve given me the ick, big time.”

Now, with a head of department firing potentially on the horizon, did Lara feel in danger? “I don’t think so. The interior was running smoothly, we didn’t have any issues with the guests interior-wise, so I didn’t think we ever fell short. Obviously, now watching it back with Wihan going to the captain about me, if he’d have taken it like that, maybe I would have been. But I’m pretty confident in my role and I know I do a good job.”

Lara Rigby “took a few weeks” getting used to the Below Deck Down Under cameras

“I’d never done anything like this before,” Lara said of joining the show, “so to do my job, as stressful as it is, and have cameras there, made that a lot more intense. Eventually, I was so busy I was just like, ‘I’ve gotta get the job done.’”

Right at the start of the season, however, Lara had an emotional meltdown. Viewers saw as she burst into tears in her cabin at the end of the premiere. It’s something the Below Deck chief stew opened up about on social media.

“It’s never nice to see yourself in that position,” Lara explained. “I always class myself as quite strong, but eventually some things do get too much, and I think it’s important to be able to vent that and get it out there. No one should suffer feeling that way, and I think opening up brings people together. I had a lot of support from people when that happened, and that was really great.”

At that time, we saw head chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph comfort Lara. They’d built a friendship on a prior boat, having worked together. But recently, Tzarina felt a little betrayed by some of Lara’s confessional comments…

Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Lara Rigby were “good” friends before Below Deck Down Under

Below Deck Down Under - Tzarina Mace-Ralph

In recent weeks, Tzarina has called Lara out for some of her comments on the show, filmed in confessional. We asked Lara if she’d like to respond to some of that, and she admitted she was shocked by the reaction.

“I guess I was a little surprised, because we had a good friendship before the show,” Lara said. “We always joked about how different we were as people, but that’s what made our friendship so fun. So, I was a bit shocked she took it to heart that way; it was never intended in that way. It was a playful thing and I assumed she would take it that way. But, if I have offended her, it wasn’t my intention, and I hope deep down she really does know that.”

Hopefully, these two can get back on the same page in the near future. I don’t really see it for Wihan and Lara. But Lara and Tzarina? They need to go on a night out, enjoy some drinks, and clear the air.

“It’s never nice, you never want to get to that point,” Lara said of Captain Jason being brought into her drama with Wihan. “You want to be able to sort it out between you and just get on with the job. But the captain’s there for that reason as well, he’s an overseer of everything and has a bigger view of it all. I think sometimes it’s a good thing that he can get involved, and Jason’s very fair, he’s a great captain and the decisions he makes moving forward, I fully agree with.”

But it’s not just the deck crew causing a headache. Marina now wants to be on more service. Speaking about her decision, Lara noted that “two stewardesses on a yacht that size is not ideal. The guests were very demanding, and while I’d love to give everyone the opportunity to do what they want to do, sometimes you’ve just got to be the person in charge and make the hard decisions. For me, it was working the way [we had it].

Bri [Duffield] was amazing with guests and cocktails, and all the preferences were wrapped around service and cocktails. Marina was running the interior amazingly; she’s a great worker. So, for those charters, that was best for the guests, and the decision I had to make. It’s tough, but I just have to get my work brain on in that mode and be strong in that.”

Not to mention, Marina fell asleep in front of guests! “I did hear a rumor but I was like, ‘There’s no way!’” Lara said. “Then I saw it … so yeah, that was a bit of a shock!”

Would Lara Rigby return for another season of Below Deck?

Below Deck Down Under - Lara Rigby

“Yeah, absolutely!” Lara told us. “It was a great experience. I met some fantastic people, and the team and everything from it has been great. So yeah, why not? Who knows!”

With the drama, there were some highlights. “Me and Bri obviously have a fantastic friendship that’ll be forever. We had some funny, funny times. There was a lot of laughs, a lot of good times and memories, and every time we watch an episode back, we all get in the [text] group and laugh about it. It was a really fun time.”

And while we couldn’t get a present-day update on Bri and Harry, Lara loved their time on the yacht. “Their relationship was nice. It was very cute and felt natural, they had a good base of friendship before it. The other relationships I’m not so sure on! I don’t know what was going on there.”

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 9 has arrived, bringing us to another recap of all things Wihan and his annoyed fellow yachties. This week’s episode, titled “Foam Sick,” shows Lara and Wihan remaining at odds as the heads of their departments. Last week, other crew members also grew frustrated with Wihan, prompting an intervention from Captain Jason. Once Captain Jason left his crew alone to hash things out, Wihan accepted zero blame for his antics on board. On the positive, Johnny and Alesia grew closer, as did Harry and Bri. Here is how Wihan and his love-struck costars fared on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 9.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 9?

During Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 9, Lara and Tzarina continued battling their frustrations with Wihan. Unfortunately, Wihan continued to ignore and pass the buck on their concerns, surprising no one on board. At least their guests had a great time covering his deck in foam. Between the boatmances and the absent-minded bosun, several problems arose this week, which might signal the beginning of the end for Wihan.

Wihan continues shutting down Tzarina and Lara while two dates and a party help lighten the tone

We pick up where we left off, showing Tzarina pleading with Wihan to own his sh*t. Wihan apologizes, but then he notes something unrelated, which Lara clocks. Wihan then admits that his team has plenty of downtime. Lara reminds him that when his team is free, he needs to assign them to help with other departments.

Wihan does not care. Wihan does not lead in an enforcement-like way, so he will continue doing what he wants, he quips. Yikes. In his interview, Wihan brags that his team has moments to have fun, and it is not his fault that other departments do not share in this luxury.

Tzarina asks if they can chat again after the next preference sheet meeting. All parties agree. After this failed meeting, Tzarina heads to see Lara, giving her friend a much-needed hug in her cabin.

In her cabin, Alesia is preparing for her first date with Johnny. Bri reassures her as Tzarina encourages Harry in the galley nearby, asking Harry to step things up with Bri. Harry reveals that tonight is their night, as he has access to a guest cabin and nothing but time.

Tonight, the crew is celebrating Marina with a birthday celebration. Lara and Tzarina worked hard to have the food and decor just right. Thankfully, Marina loved their efforts. Wihan also loves the efforts of Adair.

Off the boat, Johnny makes Alesia laugh. Her feelings scare her, she admits. A thunderstorm arrives as they return to the yacht, ending the birthday celebration in favor of hot tub games like Never Have I Ever and Truth or Dare. Alesia finally kisses Johnny while Harry and Bri head to the guest cabin.

In the galley, Adair kisses Wihan, admitting she likes him too.

Harry and Bri take to a guest cabin in between charters

Harry and Bri continue kissing in the guest cabin. In his cabin, Wihan celebrates his wins with Adair. But then Wihan crawls into his bunk, telling Johnny that Bri deserves a man, not a “wimp” like Harry. Johnny politely disagrees.

Bri reveals that she is past her insecurities the following morning. She and Harry enjoyed their night, and apparently, there are sides to Harry we will never see, unlike her. TELL US MORE, BRI!

The crew readies their yacht for the next charter. Corinne Olympios, last seen on House of Villains, is coming on board with her sister and friends. They want a foam party. They also hope to come aboard the yacht via jet skis.

After the preference sheet meeting, Lara takes control, telling Wihan how she plans on using their shared team member, Adair. Wihan agrees to her plans. Lara then tells her girls that Marina is on housekeeping for this charter, but Marina grows annoyed, as she wants to be used more with the guests instead. Adair sides with Marina, but Lara professionally shuts Adair down.

Marina later asks Bri how she feels about Lara and her systems. Bri keeps things kind. The cameras then cut to the guests hurtling toward the yacht.

The charter guests come on board, ready to party. Lara takes them around, making a pit stop in the wheelhouse at their request. Captain Jason is not there, however. He is downstairs, helping Marina with their luggage.

Marina corrects Captain Jason about the placement of one of the suitcases. He overrides this stew’s suggestion, annoying Marina.

As the interior team and chefs struggle to meet their deadlines, Wihan is on deck, playfully fighting with Johnny. Harry interjects, reminding them to check in with Lara if they have downtime. In his interview, Wihan admonishes Harry, as he is the boss, not Harry.

Wihan radios Lara, who tells him the guests will likely emerge from their cabins in 30 minutes. Wihan disappears, but the guests exit early, jumping overboard from the yacht into the deep waters below. Lara radios for the deck team to come out, which Johnny does, alongside Captain Jason, who implores his wild guests to never jump without a team member present. Captain Jason has to step in again moments later after a guest brings his jet ski too close to the yacht, splashing his friends.

The guests then board a tender with Captain Jason and Wihan for a day of snorkeling. The cinematic shots here score a 10/10.

Captain Jason scolds Marina while Tzarina goes all out for dinner

Back onboard, Captain Jason cracks open a bottle of meds with a joke about how he gets when he is apart from his digestives (SAME, CAPT). Marina jokes back, asking if a lack of meds turns him into a cranky micromanager like she saw earlier. Captain Jason (and everyone at home, likely) failed to laugh, telling her he only steps in when others struggle to step up. He scolds Marina, telling her to “never talk like that to me” again.

Uh oh, Marina.

Tzarina is treating the guests to a feast. This dinner is for a birthday celebration, and everyone on board is wearing a wig. Back in the galley, Alesia is getting distracted, which Tzarina notes. Thankfully, their guests liked their results.

Tzarina is tired. She falls on Wihan, asking him to hug her tightly. Wihan complies.

Harry goes down to bed. Wihan tells Johnny to wash the deck down after the foam party ends. He also asks Johnny to write down anything he fails to get done. Johnny agrees.

The guests enjoy their foam party. The foam is so massive that it covers the heads of their guests. Consequently, one guest gets sick, promptly spewing over the side of the yacht. He rejoins the party after, like a puke and rally king.

The guests go to bed. Johnny starts hosing down the deck, asking Lara and Bri where Wihan has gone. The camera shows Wihan lounging in the crew mess with a snack. On deck, Johnny is overwhelmed, but Wihan heads to his cabin for bed, never once checking in on Johnny.

Johnny goes above and beyond to clean the deck, but as he is only one human, a lot is left over for Harry to complete. When Harry sees this, he is frustrated.

Captain Jason is also frustrated. He asks Lara if she has heard about his interaction with Marina. Lara admits that she has. Lara then fills Captain Jason in on her struggles with Marina, who then asks Lara to “leave it to” him to sort.

The guests are awake and on deck, where Wihan instructs Harry to clean with him. Harry responds, telling Wihan that the guests are having breakfast, so this is not the time to pull out their vacuums. Wihan disagrees, blaming Johnny for not writing down his lack of vacuuming on the board. Lara appears, also telling Wihan that now is not the time to clean.

Wihan throws Johnny under the bus again. Lara shuts him down, saying Johnny was alone and awake for three hours cleaning. Wihan throws Harry under the yacht next, as Harry should have picked up the slack first thing that morning. Harry and Lara are both annoyed, so Wihan runs to fill Captain Jason in on this mess first.

In the wheelhouse, Wihan tells Captain Jason that Lara is stepping on his toes. His plan backfires. Captain Jason tells Wihan to stop throwing others under the bus and do his job. In his confessional, Captain Jason makes it clear that if Wihan and Lara cannot figure their sh*t out, one of them is going home.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8 is here, which means another recap for fans who want to relive all of the latest BDDU installment’s drama! This week’s episode, called “Rumble in the Jungle,” promised to be a treat. We left things off with Tzarina panicking about the beach picnic, due to timings not being communicated efficiently. There’s also simmering tension between Lara and Wihan; will the heads of department be able to pull together, or is it time for somebody to be cut lose? Here’s what went down in Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8…

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8?

During Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8, Lara and Tzarina sat down with Wihan to talk through their issues. They’re not the only ones angry at the bosun though; Harry also feels as though his department lead isn’t treating the staff with any respect. That’s not the way to get the job done. Captain Jason is forced to step in, and demands the heads of department talk it out. But will they be able to find a path forward?

Wihan’s head is in the clouds

Focused on his (questionable) love for Adair, Wihan’s head doesn’t seem to be in the game. While Tzarina and Lara stress about the beach picnic timings, due to a long bicycle ride to see some gorgeous tortoises, he’s flexing shirtless in the mirror inside his cabin. Which admittedly is a great sight for sore eyes, but that’s beside the point.

On the yacht, Captain Jason notices a huge swell and goes out to find a new anchorage. Staying in the current spot would likely cause seasickness when the guests return. The boat is tipping, but sous chef Alesia is more focused on making a good impression with her crewmates. She’s already offended Wihan by suggesting he’s “gone through half the crew.” Alesia admits she’s got “zero filter,” but she’s not above apologizing. Personally, I think she was spot on.

Finally arriving at their beach picnic, the guests seem impressed! “She’s really talented,” says one about Tzarina’s skills. Lara is more focused on keeping everything moving, and is baffled by Wihan’s decision not to attend. She thinks he’s being lazy, and at this point, when he’d rather be writing letters professing his feelings for a member of crew, it’s hard to deny.

Alesia texts Wihan to apologize, but he thinks she’s playing games. Harry tries to pull Wihan back from the ledge, but the bosun is too far gone. His attempts to explain away the apology dip slightly into misogyny. Let me be clear – I don’t think Wihan hates women – I just think that how he dismisses Alesia is unconsciously rooted in a societal construct of how a woman must be trying to fight for a man’s attention, rather than simply having a human moment. Not a good look. “Delusional,” as Harry says.

Wihan’s caught standing around rather than doing his job

With everybody back on the yacht, Jason wants to move – but there’s anchor issues. While Johnny struggles, Wihan is looking through photos of tortoises – and Jason can see him slacking on the job via the CCTV system. “Why are you standing around?” he radios. And as the anchor chain remains stuck, Johnny’s hand looks way too close to the metal. I don’t want to see his hand ripped off, so I can admit I closed my eyes. Thankfully, Johnny gets the job done, and Jason is thankful.

Wihan then pulls Adair for a chat, asking her if she’s kept his letter. Meanwhile, Alesia’s explaining to Tzarina why she made a shady comment to the bosun. Tzarina’s confused as to why he’s even asking for food for a date while they have guests on board. As is often the case, Tzarina makes a great point.

In confessional, Adair admits Wihan is growing on her “a little bit.” She usually goes for the country boys, but she likes the “calm and soft” side of her bosun. “Refreshing change, I guess.” It’s hard to know if she’s being serious; Adair also has such a sense of calm about her, it’s difficult to understand if she’s excited, nervous, scared, sad; any of the emotions.

Back in the crew mess, Tzarina admits to Jason the beach picnic organization was “a mess.” She feels she took charge, and throws Wihan under the bus. “He wasn’t even at the excursion,” she says. Jason’s confused as to why his bosun couldn’t follow even the most simple plan. “We’ll put it to bed, and then we’ll bring it up after the charter.”

Harry’s growing tired of the deck crew’s commitment to work

Later, Lara asks Harry and Wihan for help putting together the Fear Factor-style games requested by the guests. Harry’s up for it, and Wihan doesn’t complain. As the yacht anchors in a new location, the decorations are laid. Lara’s frustrated, because Wihan doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing despite Lara already explaining. He’s completely off his game. “I will get it under control,” Harry promises the chief stew.

As he heads to the kitchen, Bri speaks to Marina about their blossoming romance. She’s worried that Harry might think their relationship is just for the boat. I understand her concerns, but I personally think she’s got our boy all wrong. He’s just trying to take it slow and learn from his past mistakes.

What Harry won’t tolerate is being left to do all the work by himself. He tells Wihan and Adair he feels like a “one-man team” prepping the Fear Factor challenges. They spring into action, but the tension is simmering, much like Alesia’s cooking. Johnny’s attempting to woo her, and his magic might be working. She’s enjoying the flirting, despite rejecting his kiss a few nights before.

The guests are seated for their dining experience, and Jason’s joining them. Marina and Adair are cleaning the guest cabins, and while Johnny and Wihan promise to help, they spend much of their time watching turtles having sex. Harry’s pissed; he just wants to get the job done.

“Every single deckhand’s in the interior … pissing around,” Harry tells Lara. Meanwhile, Marina’s ready to “explode,” because she’s being distracted. “If I hear one more turtle sex noise, I promise to God, I’ll whoop your ass on down to the crew mess.”

Wihan listens in on Harry’s conversation with Captain Jason

After reaffirming his adoration of Bri, Harry finally takes a minute to decompress. Speaking with Tzarina, he says there are some things that need to be improved. “There’s no schedule,” he says of Wihan’s techniques. “It’s just exhausting.”

Moments later, he’s proven correct. After Harry calls Wihan out, he snaps back. “We’re just finishing cabins … I had to dry showers and sh*t,” Wihan claims. Tzarina tells him he’s “f*cked up,” and Wihan goes back to playing on his phone in the crew mess. “What did I do wrong?” he asks Tzarina after service. She says it’s “a lot of communication stuff.”

Harry joins the conversation, and points out that they were calling for help over the radio. “Why is she angry at me? How am I putting pressure on the interior?” Wihan just cannot take responsibility. “This is actually gonna make me angry.” Harry then asks what he’s doing wrong, because Wihan says Johnny being on nights led to “zero complaints.”

“That doesn’t make sense at all,” Harry tells him. Somehow, Wihan is trying to flip the blame onto his team. Harry tells him he’s not “dumb,” and he wants a schedule mapped out for transparency. “It would solve all the communication issues.” Wihan stomps up to the whiteboard and, with an attitude, lays it all out.

Thankfully, the guests are still having a great time, oblivious to the drama. Jason finds Harry looking stressed, and pulls him into the bridge. He explains his issues with Wihan, with Wihan in earshot, listening from outside. “Loyalty is extremely important to me,” Wihan says in confessional. “I don’t really know if I can trust this guy anymore.”

Lara tells Wihan how she really feels

“I don’t know how many more times I need to sit down with this girl,” Wihan says in the crew mess to Johnny. He’s blaming Lara for the communication issues – all while Bri walks in and out. Her eyeroll in confessional says it all.

In her cabin, Marina questions why she’s not on service, as the guests wrap up their Fear Factor challenges. Adair tells her she’s being “too nice.” It would be nice to see the stewardesses switch roles each charter; that’s usually how things are kept fair. If she brought this up respectfully with Lara, I expect she’d take it well.

Speaking of Lara, Harry’s asking for her permission to set up a crew cabin for a “snuggle” with Bri once the guests have left. The blessing is given, and he’s over the moon. Still, it probably doesn’t make up for him working like a dog until the very early hours.

The next day arrives, and it’s Marina’s 26th birthday! A perfect time to show her some love. As Harry rests, Wihan bitches that he’s making his job “harder.” The lack of self-awareness is truly astounding. Adair’s also got an attitude, which she unleashes on Jason when he asks why she’s making coffee for herself and Wihan when they should be up on deck. “You’re missing the point,” he says with a smile as she argues her case. She shouldn’t mistake Jason’s kindness for weakness. “It’s not a retreat. We’re here to work.”

Then, Wihan confronts Lara. He tells her of the conversation he had with Tzarina. “Sometimes I feel like there’s not really much structure in the deck crew,” she says, before pointing out Adair’s situation with Jason. “This is a superyacht, it needs to be perfect, and it’s not.”

Jason calls Wihan for a conversation in the bridge

“I really think Wihan prioritizes working, same as I do,” Johnny says in confessional. He’s got respect for his bosun, which paints a very different picture to the one we’re seeing. Still, Wihan must be doing something right, at least when it comes to Johnny.

In the bridge, Johnny asks for Jason’s permission to take Alesia out for a drink after drop off. Captain Jason gives the all clear, and Alesia seems thrilled when Johnny tells her he’s booked a restaurant reservation. I’m into this boatmance!

After the (very lovely) guests are dropped off, Jason calls Wihan to the bridge. “I need you to sharpen your team up,” he tells him, before relaying the coffee incident. “Not teaching your team the right way is not a leader. At the moment, I’m talking to you like a head of department. Now the next step is me actually going out there and being that hard guy, and you don’t want me to, ‘cause then I’m actually talking to you like a deckhand. So, don’t get me in that position.”

Jason then admits his surprise at Wihan not attending the beach trip. “I don’t wanna nitpick at everything, but it has come to my attention a little bit … there’s some negativity and moaning going on. It’s gotta stop. That infection will spread like a wildfire. If you just can’t sort it out, I’ll make changes.” The law has been laid out – but will Wihan listen? His immediate pushback suggests not entirely…

It’s time for an open dialogue between the department heads

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 8

As the tip meeting is called, the crew celebrate the end of the fourth charter. Jason points out that communication is a problem, and asks the head of department to stay behind so they can have an open dialogue.

Jason tells the department heads they need to have a chat. It’s one he’s going to leave them to, rather than inserting himself in.

Tzarina opens the discussion by asking for more “support.” She uses the picnic as an example, explaining how she needs more “information” to succeed. Lara adds that she needs Wihan to “take control” of tasks, and “please listen” during moments such as service. “I don’t wanna keep asking and feeling like I’m trying to tell everyone what to do.”

Wihan then says he has “confusion” about how much time he can allow his deck team to be in the interior. Tzarina thinks he needs “discipline,” and Lara admits she doesn’t think Wihan’s team respects him.

“I want you to go out there and work for an hour,” he says to Lara of the deck jobs. “You have an explanation for everything, you’ve not once gone, ‘Yeah I’ve f*cked up,’ not once,” Tzarina adds. And then, the episode ends! This is real drama, and juicy. Until next time…

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.
