Katy Perry’s space trip cost searched heavily after Blue Origin mission ends

Katy Perry flew to space on April 14 for Blue Origin’s new mission, accompanied by an all-female crew. This included Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Kerianne Flynn, Amanda Nguyen, and Aerospace company founder Jeff Bezos’s fiancée, Lauren Sánchez. While the trip has concluded, netizens have been searching for whether Perry had to pay for the Blue Origin mission. Additionally, many wish to know if anyone can book a trip to space in a Blue Origin aircraft.

According to CNN, the company’s spokesperson, Bill Kircos, shared that some crew members paid for the trip while some flew free of cost. However, it isn’t revealed who paid for the trip. It is also unclear if Katy Perry had to pay for the Blue Origin mission. Moreover, the exact cost of the Blue Origin flight is not clear yet.

As per The New York Times, Blue Origin auctioned a seat to Oliver Daemen for its first crew flight at $28 million in the summer of 2021. Later, actor William Shatner was revealed to have taken a free trip as a Blue Origin guest. The Observer stated that while the exact price isn’t disclosed, Blue Origin’s competitor, Virgin Galactic, reportedly charged a 90-minute ride to space for $450,000 per person.

Roman Chiporukha, co-founder of space travel booking company SpaceVIP, opened up on space missions. Talking about how the space missions are “a package deal,” he told the outlet how “it’s not about money.” He added, “It’s about who you are, your social capital, whether you align with their launch purposes.”

As it is now, anyone can book a flight to space on Blue Origin’s reservation portal. On the page, one needs to fill out their form providing basic details. While ticket prices aren’t listed, passengers have to pay a refundable $150,000 to start the order process. However, the website states that just filling out a form won’t confirm a seat on the flight.
