Below Deck Down Under star Jason Chambers, also known as Captain Jason, is one of Bravo’s most eligible bachelors. He joined the network in 2022 and quickly became a fan favorite and many viewers’ TV boyfriend. It’s no mystery why viewers are swooning for the Bravo star. Not only is he dreamy, but he’s also devoted to his work and puts his daughter above all else.

Captain Jason’s romantic life continues to fascinate fans. He’s pretty low-key about his personal life, but he recently shared an update about his dating status. Here’s what we know.

Where does Captain Jason stand in his dating life in April 2025?

Below Deck viewers suspected Captain Jason may be off the market after a fan thought they spotted an engagement ring on his finger in a promo for Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under. But it was a false alarm.

Captain Jason set the record straight in a February 2025 interview with The Daily Dish, telling the outlet he is currently single. However, his DMs may not be open quite yet, sorry ladies. In the interview, he shared that dating isn’t his number one priority at the moment.

“I don’t think the time has ever been right. I needed to give a lot of time to my daughter over the last few years,” he said.

He shared that he wants to make sure he is going into dating with the right intentions, telling The Daily Dish he needs to be in the right headspace.

“The relationships I have had have been long, and they probably shouldn’t have lasted that long,” he said. “I’m starting to realize why I’ve gone into those relationships. I’m probably trying to create something but not be 100 percent myself. So, I have put a pause on dating for quite some time because I haven’t had the time to bring someone else into my daughter’s [life].”

Ok, a man who self-reflects and puts his family first? Yeah, my guess is those comments aren’t going to curb the slew of DMs I’m sure he’s getting.

Captain Jason has his eye on a few Bravolebs

Captain Jason told The Daily Dish that he will start dating again when his life is more stable.

“I think 2025 is the time to get some stability, find out where I’m going to be based, get my career going, and then it’s right to bring someone else in,” he said. “So yeah, 2025 will be the year that I will get these other things done and then, hopefully, I can meet someone and I’m ready.”

The Below Deck Down Under star has expressed interest in a couple of Bravolebs in the past. He gave Vanderpump Rules cast member Lala Kent a shoutout at BravoCon in 2023, telling fans she is the Bravo star he would want as a primary guest on his yacht. The comment caused quite a stir among fans, and romance rumors began to spread. However, Lala shot down the rumors in a December 2023 Amazon Live, telling viewers she is not interested in dating the Captain.

 “I think he’s very very handsome, as many people do,” she said, The Daily Dish reported. “He’s quite a bit older than me. He lives somewhere very very far from me. And timing is everything with a relationship, and I’m just not quite there. I know I’m a weirdo.”

More recently, Captain Jason expressed interest in a few other Bravolebs during an interview with Parade. The interviewer presented him with a number of names from the network, and he shared whether he would date them or not. Brynn Whitfield, Heather Gay, and Ciara Miller were among the names he expressed interest in.

Could Captain Jason swap Below Deck Down Under for a Bravo dating show?

Captain Jason is so popular with the ladies that I would not be surprised if he were offered the leading role in a dating show. Perhaps he could take on a leading role in Bravo’s Love Hotel or even make the jump to ABC and become the next Bachelor. I believe fans would tune in to see Jason navigate the messy waters of a reality dating show. He’s the perfect candidate for it.

Below Deck Down Under deck hand Nicolas Cattelan fumbled his first day on the job in Season 3 Episode 11. When Nicolas asked if it’s okay to mingle with the guests, Captain Jason Chambers warned him, “Yes, but no drinking and behave yourself.”

Unfortunately, during an after-dinner drinking game, one of the guests urged Nicolas to take a shot, and he complied. Uh oh. Did you not hear the captain say, “No drinking?” After stewardess Brianna Duffield reminded him of the no drinking on charter rule, Nic knew he screwed up.

Consequently, he will have to make a full confession to the captain the next day. Drinking on charter is a fireable offense. Will the Captain fire Nic or forgive him?

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 12 sneak peek

Can I just say how absolutely beautifully this show is filmed? The underwater shots are stunning.

The next morning, Bosun Nate Salmon asks Nic how everything went the night before. All Nic can think of is that he broke the no-drinking rule.

“[I’ve] kind of been going back and forth,” the deck hand says in a confessional. “I know that with Captain Jason, drinking on charter is an absolute no-go. There’s a reality where I just don’t bring it up … but it’s not the right way to go about things.”

At the same time as the guests are leaving for their excursion, Nic is practicing what he’s going to say to Jason. “Captain,” he says, “primary asked me to take a shot, and I did. Got a bit carried away.”

Nicolas admits he has an issue with getting in his own head. “I’m not the most experienced person on the crew by far,” he adds. As Nicolas putters around his cabin, he finally decides he needs to “do this properly.” It’s time to face the captain.

But that’s where the sneak peek leaves us hanging. We’ll just have to watch next week’s episode to find out how Jason responds to Nic’s confession.

It’s getting too hot in this kitchen. Conflict came to the galley on Below Deck Down Under in a situation that was already chaotic. Captain Jason Chambers overhead Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph complaining about how he suggested she prepare the crew lunch and he confronted her on the matter in the latest episode.

Tzarina had a sous chef who was in charge of cooking crew food. But since Anthony Bird took another job and left mid-charter, Tzarina was left precariously close to burn-out. In the interest of time management, Jason told her to use guest leftovers for the crew lunch. She had other ideas though.

Jason didn’t want to give Tzarina additional work

E! News shared an exclusive sneak peek of the February 24 episode. It all started when Tzarina asked Jason what she should make for the crew lunch. The charter had ended, and she wanted to go all out and ensure her costars were well-fed.

“What do you want for crew lunch?” she asked.

“Nothing, it’s there,” he replied.

“They’ve got to eat something for the night out,” Tzarina argued. “Last time, they hadn’t sat down and had a proper lunch. It’s a lot for them.”

Jason doubled-down on the plan to use the breakfast food that was left over.

“Well, just put some food out there that can last I suppose, make them some wraps,” he stated. “This is lunch. Turn this into a brunch. That’s fine.”

In a confessional interview, the Australian native pointed to Tzarina losing her sous-chef. He simply wanted her to work effectively.

“I genuinely know Tzarina cares for the crew and for me to say, ‘Don’t feed them, that’s fine,’ that’s against what she would want to do,” he explained. “But she’s just had a problem with her sous chef, it didn’t work out. So, we can support ourselves with the food that’s there. There is enough food there, we’re not going to starve.”

Back in the galley, Tzarina started unloading on chief stew Lara Rigby, who had walked in to check on her. Jason had left but did a turn-around when he heard his name being brought up.

Jason is “not going to put up with it” all season

“Jason’s just pissing me off,” Tzarina complained. “Even though I’ve just done breakfast, now I have to add on to it. So that stuff’s getting cold and now he wants me to make more stuff so people can have brunch after that. I was like, ‘The whole reason we do it after the tip meeting is because we don’t eat on our nights out. So, sometimes 9 o’clock at night and we’re drinking and I’m trying to prevent people from feeling like s–t and being starved.'”

Having heard enough, Jason re-entered the galley to discuss the insubordination. Lara, notably, made a quick exit at that point.

“What’s the problem, Tzarina?” he asked. “It will save you cooking and preparation after tip meeting. I’m more than happy for you to cook after the tip meeting.”

Back in the confessional, Jason advised the chef not to “start picking a fight with me.”

“I’m on your side,” he continued. “I’m here to support you to make your job easier. I’ve given her a solution and then you walk in and you’ve got a problem with what I’m giving? Is this the way it’s going to be all season? No, not gonna put up with it.”

It will be interesting to see how things go in the galley with another sous chef on the way. Certainly, being solo with all the cooking is adding to Tzarina’s stress.

Captain Jason Chambers is arguably the most eligible bachelor on Bravo. Yet he’s been reluctant to date because of professional demands and the need to prioritize his daughter. But just because the logistics are off, that doesn’t mean that the Below Deck Down Under star doesn’t consider the options. And it seems that Paige DeSorbo has caught his eye.

It’s a dating pool of Bravo stars. Jason had a flirty time with Lala Kent at BravoCon. Last year, he said he could see himself dating Lindsay Hubbard. And in a recent interview, the Australian native expressed an interest in the Summer House star.

Jason admits that he might have “missed that boat”

Jason gave an exclusive interview with Us Weekly during which he was asked to choose between Paige, her Summer House costar Ciara Miller, and Katie Maloney as a potential match. The captain is interested in the fashion contributor, though he may have missed his opportunity.

“No [I haven’t slid in her DMs] because it’s a little bit raw now,” Jason said of her recent breakup with Craig Conover. Then he added, “I might have missed that boat.”

Since splitting with the Southern Charm star in November, Paige has been linked to Joe D’Amelio. The duo were spotted holding hands on a trip together in New Orleans.

Jason thinks he will start dating again in 2025

The Summer House star announced her breakup on a December 2024 episode of her podcast The Giggly Squad.

“I have so much love and respect for Craig,” Paige said at the time. “I will remain the biggest fan for him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best, because he is the best. But, with that said, I think it is the right decision for both of us.”

Craig’s official statement on Instagram Story had a much different tone. He said that the breakup happened “right before the holidays” and it “shocked” him.

“I was very shocked. And it’s OK. It takes two people to be in a relationship and you can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it. Remember to be kind to Paige and me and yourselves and all of that good stuff,” he said.

As for Jason, he was previously quoted as saying that he thinks 2025 is the year he will meet someone special.

It’s early in the season on Below Deck Down Under and charter one is experiencing some chaos. Most notably, what’s going on in the galley. Tzarina Mace Ralph is having trouble implementing her first sous chef Anthony Bird well. And the layout of the boat is exhausting the interior team. Captain Jason Chambers is already sensing the stress.

The first morning’s breakfast was disorganized, with chief stew Lara Rigby taking orders without offering the chef’s special. Tzarina was left to make a dozen separate egg variations. The chief stew was in tears, but couldn’t wallow because there was a beach picnic to set up.

Certain situations tested Jason’s “ability to manage the crew”

Captain Jason exclusively shared his thoughts on the season thus far with Collider. Unfortunately, the gorgeous backdrop of the Seychelles can’t iron out the wrinkles within the team cohesion.

The Below Deck star was asked to sum up the season “in three words.” Captain Jason chose “lack of cohesion.” Then, he added, “Tropical. Remoteness. Lack of cohesion and growth.”

Given the challenges, the interviewer asked Jason what “keeps you coming back to the world of yachting.”

After raving about the island destination in the Indian Ocean, Jason admitted that the challenges this season were “testing of my ability to manage the crew.”

“Because they are put into these scenarios of pressure cookers, and they have to learn themselves, a lot. They have to learn of themselves throughout. And me also. And I get, at the end of it, I really get satisfaction that we get to an endpoint,” Jason shared.

The captain’s management style is to “allow people to make their mistakes and grow and learn.” He thinks that’s the best way to encourage growth in the crew.

“In just a short time frame of six weeks of filming, but a very high workload, I think back, and I just think, okay, you’re going to remember this time,” Jason continued. “And you’re going to be a better person. Or you did really well. Or you got this out of it.”

Jason promised “some really good end results” within the crew

In terms of these parameters, Jason promised a successful season though. He recalled of Season Three, viewers will see “a hell of a lot of growth from a hell of a lot of crew members.”

He concluded, “You’re going to see them come apart, and you’re going to see them try and get back together, and you’re going to see some really good end results.”

The biggest challenge, according to the Australian native was Tzarina having a “sous chef” because she “never managed someone before.”

Jason explained, “Tzarina is a great chef. She’s always trying to manage herself. You know, she really is in with herself all the time, and she doubts herself a lot, but she always puts out some great food. And now she has to manage someone else.”

Again, the layout of the boat caused additional stress for the crew. Jason described the galley as “a little dark box.” And his “biggest challenge” was to talk Tzarina back when she became stressed.

Finally, the reality TV star teased a crew “get together in the captain’s lounge” as a highlight of the season.

Captain Jason revealed his current relationship status during an exclusive interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish. The father-of-one is still single, and focusing on his young daughter Saskia.

“I’m still single,” he said. “I don’t think the time has ever been right. I needed to give a lot of time to my daughter over the last few years.”

Jason has some inner work to do, and he explained some patterns of dating that he wants to change in the future.

Turns out all those warnings about being careful in the sun were right. Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers is embarrassed that he didn’t heed those warnings.

The Below Deck franchise’s sexiest captain was diagnosed with melanoma in December 2024 after noticing some changes to a sunspot on his left side.

“I had a little spot there for many years,” he says. “But it kind of changed color and someone told me I should get it checked out. I went to the doctor and said, ‘Is it that serious?’ And they said, ‘Yeah, you need it taken out now.’”

Captain Jason felt foolish for not realizing the sun’s danger

“It was a little bit too much to take in,” he tells PEOPLE. “There were a lot of scary things.”

Melanoma is one of the three major types of skin cancer. It is no joke and can be deadly if not treated. According to the Mayo Clinic, exposure to sunlight can cause the abnormal growth of cells, which can develop into skin cancer. This is why it’s so important to wear protective clothing, as well as sunscreen. Having that “perfect tan” is not worth dying for.

“Personally, I feel a little bit silly and stupid about it,” Jason confesses. “As someone that’s worked on the water – someone that’s Australian – that I actually didn’t know the severity of skin cancer, and I thought that I was immune to it. I kind of look back at myself and go, really?”

After his biopsy and diagnosis, Jason immediately jumped into researching skin cancer. What he learned made him realize how careless he’d been in the sun.

According to the CDC, unprotected skin can be damaged after as little as 15 minutes’ exposure to the sun’s UV rays. 132,000 melanoma cancers occur worldwide every year, with Captain Jason’s native Australia having one of the highest rates of incidence and mortality (death).

Sadly, this knowledge came as a shock to the charter captain. “I’m out in the sun all day,” he says. “How did I think that I was going to be unique to everyone else?”

Captain Jason made big changes in his life since his cancer scare

Since his diagnosis, Bravo’s Heartthrob of the Sea has undergone two procedures to remove the cancer cells. His prognosis is good, with only a 5% chance of the melanoma returning.

These days Jason’s practicing Australia’s “slip, slop, slap” advice: “slip” on sun-protective clothing, “slop” on sunscreen, and “slap” on a hat before heading out into the sun. It also applies to his 10-year-old daughter Saskia, who often spends time with her dad outdoors.

“I think I’m pretty lucky to be where I am and healthy at my age,” the captain explains. “I had a really bad end of the year … My father’s got Alzheimer’s; Mom’s not well. I had a best friend that passed away, [and] I had melanoma.

“So I started approaching it in a way that my mate that passed away would want me to,” he adds. “I’m going to work on not just physical health, but mental health as well … I want to see how I can get to my absolute best this year.”

Okay, I have to tell you, I’m a California girl. I grew up going to the beach with nothing but baby oil. I was in my 20s before I even knew there was such a thing as sunscreen and that sunburn was optional. Diagnosed with melanoma twenty years ago, I have a four-inch scar on the back of my left arm to prove it. So Captain Jason and I have that in common.

The Below Deck Down Under Season 3 trailer promises some high-volatility moments

Alongside our three returnees are new crew members including bosun Wihan Du Toit, chief stew Lara Rigby, sous-chef Anthony Bird, deckhands Johnny Arvanitis and Adair Werley, and stews Brianna Duffield and Marina Marcondes de Barros.

Those stews might wish Aesha Scott had also returned. Our new chief stew, Lara, looks to be all business, and no fart jokes. But we’ve only seen the trailer; maybe she’ll surprise us!

In their write-up, Bravo promises some must-see television. While Tzarina is in the galley “of her dreams,” it’s not going to be plain sailing. A weevil infestation and clashes with her sous-chef could quickly turn things sour.

Meanwhile, our new chief stew proves to be an incredible asset to the team. While she goes to great lengths to ensure guests enjoy their vacation, the deck crew have some issues, including a jet ski accident that leads to a hospital visit.

All this, plus an explosive incident that leads to a shock firing, and of course, a ton of boatmances, are sure to keep us entertained.

Oh, and we’re no longer in Australia! Instead, the new season comes directly from the Seychelles, just off the coast of Africa. It’s a stunning location, and our crew will be working aboard the franchise’s largest vessel to-date, Katina. Bring it on!

On this, Captain Jason Chambers is also in the dark, but as always, he’s making light of his situation, with the help of Britney Spears, Jack Black, and also, his daughter.

Taking to his TikTok, Captain Jason and his little girl start lip syncing and dancing to Britney’s Baby One More Time bop. To note, they used Tenacious D’s remix, created for Kung Fu Panda’s soundtrack. In this though, Captain Jason nailed his mouthing of Jack’s vocals. Sorta.

As for his actual spoken words on this matter, he writes “Below Deck Down Under Season 3. HIT ME ONE MORE TIME -or 10 more. I think we can all say we can’t wait too long for another season @bravotv. It’s been a huge wait for us between seasons and I can’t thank the huge support hanging in there and waiting, too long between drinks I say.”

That said, he’s got zero answers for us. “Well I’m proud to announce I HAVE NO IDEA EITHER,” he notes, adding, “Let’s just join together and know that your support has confirmed another season and I’m sticking around waiting, because I love it…. Your support has given time with my daughter I lost during season 1, so big LOVE,” he expresses.

This isn’t Captain Jason’s first shoutout for Below Deck Down Under Season 3

This Captain loves his Below Deck spinoff, as he should. Due to this, he’s actually taken to his socials prior to this, alluding to his desires of another run. On Instagram, he posted a video from Season 2, asking “Anyone else excited for Season 3 of BDDU?”

Naturally, his comments quickly filled with the big “when” asks. No answers were given here either. All that we can do now is wait.

Think Love Boat meets The Dating Game. Let’s take a look at a few options for a Bravolebrities Dating Show.

Luann de Lesseps

When she is single, Luann de Lesseps is a nuisance. She steals her friend’s guys, makes sure she is the number one flirt in the group, and won’t quit until she gets a number or two. But imagine the Countess on her very own dating show. The dates would be hilarious as she courts numerous men from the wealthy barrel of New York City. Obviously, she would need a French speaker so she could practice, a man who loves to travel, and someone who doesn’t mind attending her karaoke cabaret performances on a regular basis. 

Captain Jason Chambers

There is no doubt in my mind that Captain Jason Chambers could star in his version of The Love Boat. He would need a woman who is good with children since he has one daughter and a partner who loves to give back since Jason works with the Mares Foundation to bring about ocean awareness. Captain Jason isn’t actively looking for love but would make a great host if a show had a quick weekend boat ride with a few singles and one lucky contestant who wanted to make it official. Captain Jason could even officiate if needed!

All the network needs is a series called One Night in Miami that highlights Adriana de Moura’s expansive dating life. The Brazilian hottie is cultured and spirited, which would make for great TV, especially if she didn’t like her social date. I’d like to see Adriana have a dating show, like the original Blind Date, where she knows nothing about her suitor and has to spend the evening on a date of their choice. Naturally, we would also need the sassy pop-up bubbles to explain her thoughts. The show would be witty and humorous but also highlight some of Miami’s cultural hot spots. 

West Wilson

Lord, give me more of West Wilson! As one of the younger Bravolebs on this list, he would be a great asset to try to push into love. I could see a West and the City kind of series showing the Montana native living it up in the Big Apple and trying to find love. If things don’t work out with Ciara Miller, Bravo could always have West embrace his bachelor vibe and widdle down each woman by handing out a Loverboy. I’d watch it and possibly even try to be a contestant! 

Kenya Moore

Kenya Moore is our “Gone with the Wind fabulous” housewife who hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to falling in love. First, we had crazy Matt, who trashed her home, and then her failed marriage to Marc Daly. Beneath that hard exterior, the mother of one is fragile and would need a show that felt heartwarming and stable. I almost would want to see Kenya on a show like Are You The One because, at this rate, she needs science to hook her up with a good lad. 

Shep Rose

I know we have already had RealtionShep, but I do believe Shep Rose needs all the help he can get when it comes to settling down. However, I wouldn’t put this man in charge but rather his mother. I’m going to need MTV’s Parental Control to come back into play to help this Charleston playboy out. The premise was to have the parents interview possible dates for their child, and usually, the guardian chose pretty well. Maybe at least this time Shep could find that unicorn of a woman he has been looking for and finally settle down.
