Some fans of the Real Housewives of Orange County remember Lydia McLaughlin as the bright light of the franchise. Her mother, Judy Stirling, would toss fairy dust around and try to bring a bit of peace to the world. Sadly, Lydia isn’t finding much peace these days, as she recently lost her mother. Now the RHOC alum is dealing with another death in the family – her brother, Geoffrey Shyam Stirling. He was recently involved in a violent incident with police, and here are the details we have so far.

Geoffrey Shyam Stirling was shot by police

On Thursday, Geoffrey Shyam Stirling was shot fatally by Newport Beach police. He was the son of Canadian NTV CEO Scott Stirling. The 45-year-old was pulled over while on his motorcycle for a traffic violation. The police department revealed in a press release, “Shortly after being stopped, Stirling became uncooperative and assaulted the officer. During the ensuing violent altercation, Stirling managed to remove the department-issued taser from the officer’s duty belt and attempted to deploy it multiple times against the officer. At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred.” As a result, Lydia’s brother was pronounced dead after being taken to Hoag Hospital. 

Guillermo Tagalogon, who lives near Hoag Hospital, told OnScene.TV, via People, he heard “six or seven gunshots.” On Friday, April 18, the state attorney general announced that it was investigating the shooting, in line with California law. After the California Department of Justice completes its investigation, it will be handed over to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for an independent review. The Newport Beach police have 45 days from the date of the shooting to release officer-worn body camera footage of the incident.   

Lydia McLaughlin speaks out

The former Real Housewives of Orange County star took to her social media to share her grief. She wrote, “My family has experienced an unimaginable loss. My brother, Geoff, was tragically taken, and our hearts are shattered. This was the song he turned to after we lost our mom. He’d cry every time. I can’t believe we’re facing this pain just 6 months after losing my best friend and mother. I know they’re both with Jesus now, and He’s walking with me through this darkness. One step at a time.” Her brother, Jesse Stirling, also posted a collage of photos.

Below the photos, Jesse wrote, “Dear Brother, We have hundreds of photos together and shared thousands of adventures. I don’t even know how to begin this memorial,” he wrote. “I’ll just say that you left us too soon at age 45. I’ll miss your spirit full of laughter and boundless enthusiasm. Though our time together was heartbreakingly cut short, the memories we created will forever echo in my heart.” The patriarch of the family added, “Geoffrey was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a television producer, script writer, actor, and model. He attended church every Sunday and supported multiple charities. We miss him already.”

Geoffrey Shyam Stirling had a criminal background

According to the Los Angeles Times, Stirling was scheduled to appear at an arraignment hearing Monday for a felony arson charge in connection with a March 21st fire. It is unclear whether the upcoming court appearance was related to the traffic stop. Geoffrey has more skeletons in his closet, too. In 2012, he was booked in Maricopa County, Arizona, on aggravated assault of an adult on a minor. He is registered on the Megan’s Law website, too. Megan’s Law is a set of federal and state laws that require the registration of sex offenders in order to provide the public with information about those offenders to protect children and the community.

Geoffrey was registered under code 290.005. The California Penal Code Section 290.005 requires registration as a sex offender for individuals convicted of offenses in another state or federal court if those offenses would be considered registerable in California. The key aspect is that the out-of-state conviction must contain all the elements of a California sex offense to trigger the registration requirement.” Geoffrey was also registered under California’s Penal Code 311.4(a) which “criminalizes the employment, coercion, or use of a minor in the production or distribution of child pornography.”

Andy confronted Kyle for filtering her life on camera, especially when it came to her rumored romance with the country singer. She dodged questions about Morgan, telling him her friend is not comfortable being discussed on the show. Andy responded by reminding Kyle she appeared in a steamy music video with Morgan, further fueling the romance rumors.

“I do just want to point out, putting out a music video that is the two of you as lovers, it contributed so mightily to a conversation that was already a runaway train. And that was totally in her hands,” he said, referring to Morgan’s 2023 music video Fall In Love With Me.

The ladies of Real Housewives of New Jersey aren’t winning any awards for decorum at their reunions. They talk over each other, bring up irrelevant information, and almost never resolve their issues. By Season 12, Andy was done. He ended up yelling “shut up” at Teresa Giudice after she neglected to answer his question and instead, kept fighting with Margaret Josephs. His sudden outburst surprised Teresa and fans at home, who were surprised to see the usually mellow host lose his cool.

Andy Cohen tells Slade Smiley there is “no place” for him on RHOC

Slade Smiley was introduced to Bravo fans as the fiance of Jo De La Rosa on Season 1 of Real Housewives of Orange County. He left the show after Season 2 because his fiance wanted to pursue other career endeavors. He rejoined the cast in Season 5 when he began dating another orange-holder, cast member Gretchen Rossi. His return to Bravo was full of iconic moments but my personal favorite is when Andy humbled him at the Season 5 reunion. During the episode, Slade tried to combat the rumors that he was dating Gretchen for fame by saying he made the decision to leave Real Housewives after Season 2. Andy quickly dismissed the claim, reminding him that his connection to Jo was the only reason he was on the show.

“Well, Jo was no longer a Housewife … So, there would be no place for you on the show,” he said. Burnnnn. So good.

Andy Cohen grills Erika Jayne about Tom Girardi

Erika Jayne was in the hot seat at the Season 12 reunion thanks to her husband Tom Girardi’s financial woes. The women were tough on Erika all season, but nothing compared to Andy’s line of questioning at the reunion. He didn’t go easy on the RHOBH star, questioning why she didn’t leave her husband sooner. Erika explained she wasn’t in control of her finances but Andy wasn’t buying it.

Real Housewives of Orange County alum Alexis Bellino has a large family that’s only getting bigger. In her former marriage to ex-husband Jim Bellino, she welcomed three kids, two of which are twins. And because of her fiancé John Janssen, who similarly has three kids from a previous marriage, the couple has a blended family of eight. Not to mention that the housewife is an avid animal lover who said in the past that she had over 20+ pets.

Speaking of a growing family, Alexis just announced that she is officially a grandma. And no, not in the way that most would think of when they hear that word.

Alexis Bellino is a “grandma” to a French Bulldog named Zombie

The reality TV star recently took to social media to share a picture of herself at a restaurant, posing with a French bulldog that her fans have never seen before.

“Meet Zombie (or lil Z as grandma calls her). She’s the newest addition to our family and now #furbabies officially take the lead in headcount vs kids,” she shared in the Instagram caption.

She didn’t elaborate on how exactly Zombie makes her a grandmother. Lil Z could be the baby of her other dogs Biscuit and Price, or a puppy that her kids have decided to add into the family.

Nonetheless, her IG reveal should make it clear that since her shocking RHOC exit, Alexis has been enjoying a normal life. Since revealing her departure in December 2024, she hasn’t shared whether she’d even want to return to the series. So, as for now, fans can expect more grandma pictures and plans for her upcoming wedding with John.

Christina Haack spilled her RHOC tea to Jeff Lewis

Christina was a recent guest on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live radio show. It was during her segment when a fan called in and asked whether or not she’d been asked to join RHOC.

“Informally, yes. I actually don’t think I would be that good on it because I’m like really not into girl drama. I feel like I’d be so boring because I just really don’t care,” she replied in the March 27 episode.

The HGTV star did make it clear that, as for now, she’s more focused on continuing in the home renovation industry that she’s known for than becoming a Real Housewives star.

“Let’s stick with my day job, though. I’ve got big plans with homes still.”

Christina didn’t say never to joining the series. And with Tamra Judge still on the fence about her future on the show, a spot in the cast might be opening up soon.

Reality TV and tax problems seem to go hand in hand

As you can see, the list of reality television stars who have experienced tax problems is massive. These stars bring in decent paychecks, so taxes should be easy for them to pay. Yet, taxes are not always cut and dry, as we examine countless reality television stars who have experienced tax woes over the past two decades.

So, why is this the case? Cue The Tax Defenders, writing an in-depth blog about this topic in 2023. I will share their top answers with you now.

According to a partner at Bambridge Accountants in New York, AKA Alistair Bambridge, erratic pay schedules play a role. As Alistair notes, “Celebrities have erratic pay cycles. They may have years where they have massive contracts and then very little income the next. That frequently leads to tax issues, as they think they can use money from next year and have difficulty budgeting or saving.”

Chantay Bridges, a realtor, author, speaker, and philanthropist, blames the greed of bad actors, otherwise known as wallet-loving accountants, alongside a poor understanding of rules and laws for those who self-file.

Finally, Rosalean Batool, a wellness and lifestyle coach, answered this question with two words: Poverty identity. “For most celebrities, being rich is unfamiliar and therefore unsafe.” Having money “creates a poverty identity” where celebrities “hoard,” “mismanage,” or “recklessly” spend their funds.

Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas are making recent tax-related headlines

Teresa and her husband, Luis, both have in-progress tax troubles. Their household owes $3 million in total, payable to the IRS. In the world of reality television stars with tax issues, these two are making the bulk of the headlines on this topic. Luckily, they are used to being in the hot seat, as proven by their time spent on Real Housewives of New Jersey.

In 2024, Luis took out a $1 million loan against his home with Teresa. On March 6, 2025, court documents surfaced showing that Luis now owes over $2.5 million in taxes to the state of New Jersey. As rumor has it, Luis is reportedly begging for more time to repay his loan.

With Luis explained, now Teresa. On March 20, the Mercer County, New Jersey, courts filed a judgment against her via a case deemed “Division of Taxation vs Teresa Giudice.” According to their findings and documentation, Teresa owes their state another $303,889.20.

To her credit, Teresa has successfully paid down her fees and fines for several years. Hopefully, a contract for RHONJ Season 15 will arrive at her doorstep shortly to help boost her payments made back to the state of New Jersey.

Todd and Julie Chrisley are still serving time over their recent tax-related problems

Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, have also made recent headlines for their shared tax troubles. These two are now serving prison sentences after being convicted of bank fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Todd spends his days at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida. Meanwhile, Julie resides at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

In Atlanta, Todd and Julie were found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of over $36 million in fraudulent loans, defrauding the IRS, and committing tax evasion. Julie also scored a few extra convictions, like obstruction of justice and wire fraud. Chrisley Knows Best, eh? Nope.

Todd received a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie snagged seven years. Nevertheless, they claim that their case got mishandled. As they reside in custody, they are now fighting back, hoping to have their sentences pardoned. Even though his guards removed his MAGA sticker from his cell, Todd (and Julie) continue to carry hope that POTUS will soon wipe their slates clean.

It’s no secret people often have opinions on which housewives should be brought back to the famous franchise. This time it’s Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge who thinks the producers for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills need to get Lisa Rinna back pronto!

This isn’t the first time Tamra has said that RHOBH needs Rinna. It’s almost expected at this point that she would advocate for another housewife who can be as controversial as her. Or as she put it, a cast member who doesn’t “hold back.”

Tamra Judge wants Lisa Rinna back on RHOBH “bad”

On an episode of her Two Ts in a Pod podcast, Tamra noted again that she feels something is missing from RHOBH in recent seasons.

“I’m going to say that they need Lisa Rinna back bad,” she said before adding that the show needs to cast women who don’t hold back, referring to people like herself and Lisa.

“We’re like, the no bullsh*t people that just get to the point and just say how they feel,” she explained. “They say what everybody wants to say or we say what everybody else wants to say. But it’s not being said. That’s the aspect of the show that’s missing.”

Tamra did note that RHOBH’s Dorit Kemsley has “tried to step” into Lisa’s shoes, but “it’s not landing well.” Honestly, more than stepping into Lisa’s shoes, I think Dorit is more concerned with her separation from estranged husband Paul “PK” Kemsley and her ongoing feud with Sutton Stracke.

In either case, Tamra feels Lisa is a missing element in the show. “It’s just second nature for Lisa Rinna to call people out and say the things and make things work,” she said.

Lisa announced her exit from RHOBH in January 2023 and has said she is much happier off the show. Despite Tamra’s opinion, it doesn’t look like she’s coming back. She’s been keeping busy with her husband Harry Hamlin’s new podcast and other acting projects.

She even reiterated during a podcast interview early this year on That’s a Gay *ss Podcast that she had no intentions of returning to RHOBH. “They know I’m not going back.” she said.

Creator Mike White revealed that he drew inspiration from Southern Charm when writing the Ratliff family, and now, Leslie Bibb confirmed that she’s channeling a little bit of Heather Dubrow for her character.

Bravo continues to inspire The White Lotus

Leslie plays Kate Bohr on the hit HBO series, and during a recent episode of Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live, she explained how Bravo helped her prepare for the role.

“I was watching the Real Housewives always before scenes. I don’t even know. Sometimes I just watch it and I just see what seeps in. That sounds crazy, and then like I don’t even know what’s permeating or if there’ll be something,” Leslie recalled.

Although Leslie admitted she was primarily watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when she filmed The White Lotus, it was actually Real Housewives of Orange County that oozed its way into her brain.

“Maybe a little OC,” Leslie quipped. “Maybe there’s a little Heather Dubrow in her maybe.”

Now, we can’t help but fantasize about what it would be like if Fancy Pants herself popped up in The White Lotus. We think that would look pretty good on her IMDb page. Either way, Leslie admitted that the Bravofication of the role came naturally. She told Andy that she “always” uses Bravo stars as inspiration for her roles.

“I mean, didn’t you guys also, didn’t Bravo have like Rachel, that Rachel Zoe Project?” Leslie remarked. “I based one character totally on some part of Rachel Zoe’s, like that world.”

Shannon Beador had a heck of a time last season on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Now, Gretchen Rossi will be back for Season 19.

This past season, Shannon was dealing with the aftermath of her DUI. Now Gretchen returns and there has already been drama, but Shannon has high hopes.

Shannon went on the Jeff Lewis Live show on March 19 to share her thoughts on Gretchen’s re-introduction to the show.

“She’s very kind, and I think it’s great that she’s on the show,” Shannon told her friend Jeff Lewis.

The two RHOC stars previously side-stepped each other by one season. Gretchen was on the show from Season 4 to Season 8. Shannon joined the season after the mother-of-one left.

Gretchen notably had beef with Tamra Judge during her previous stint on RHOC. The latter star recently quit filming. Could it be that she and Gretchen are still feuding after all this time? Well, Shannon didn’t spill the beans on Gretchen’s dynamic within the group.

RHOC fans got a little more insight during Gretchen and fiancé, Slade Smiley’s, interview with E! News. Gretchen teased filming a “new stage” of her life. Of course, she is referring to her and Slade’s five-year-old daughter Skylar Gray Smiley.

“This new stage of our life, because I think everybody knew that I really wanted to have a child,” Gretchen explained. “So, I think that will be fun for people to see Slade and I together as parents.”

Gretchen is friends with Jennifer Pendranti and Katie Ginella. So it also felt like a good time to come back.

“She’s authentically friends with [the] majority of the women outside of what happens with filming and production,” Slade said. “We’ve got great relationships with a lot of the girls. I’m excited about that part for you.”

The long-time betrothed couple celebrated their 16th anniversary in February 2025. And Gretchen revealed that it’s quite possible they would marry on the show.

“You never know,” Gretchen teased. Slade added, “Absolutely no reason for us not to.”

In a not-so-surprising turn of events, it looks like Tamra Judge is back to filming The Real Housewives of Orange County. This comes on the heels of her announcing an exit from the show a little over a week ago.

Of course, fans were skeptical. First of all, Tamra “quitting” was based on a vague Instagram story. Second, quitting temporarily is not unheard of in the Real Housewives universe when things get difficult. So many fans did expect to see her back on RHOC despite what she may have initially said. 

Heather Dubrow and Tamra Judge met up to film RHOC scenes

Looks like Tamra might not be as “out” as she said. She was photographed filming scenes for the latest season of RHOC with Heather Dubrow. Supposedly the two were discussing their castmate Gretchen Rossi.

The photograph shared by Bravo and Cocktails on Instagram had the caption, “Tamra back filming RHOC!” She photo pointed out that just last Sunday, Tamra quit the show and then was spotted not long after filming scenes anew.

The caption further stated that the conversation, overhead by the person taking the pic, sounded heated and they heard Gretchen’s name. The poster implied they were discussing what happened during the trip to New Orleans. 

As fans may recall, the ladies of RHOC took a trip down to NOLA where Tamra supposedly quit the show after an alleged shouting match with Gretchen and Shannon Beador. The U.S. Sun reported that Tamra quit after filming that emotional scene that turned into an argument.

Other fans also said that Tamra may have already been emotionally burned out seeing as how her bestie Teddi Mellencamp’s health crisis has been weighing heavily on her. This could have also contributed to her emotional outburst and subsequent quitting.

In either case, it looks like that was only temporary. And fans aren’t surprised.

St. Patrick’s Day weekend took a “scary” turn for Gina Kirschenheiter and her family. The Real Housewives of Orange County star shared on Instagram that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, suffered a heart attack.

In Gina’s post, she said that Matt’s new partner had to rush him to the hospital. Luckily, he’s okay, and he’s recovering witih loved ones. Still, the ordeal has left the RHOC revaluating her family’s lifestyle choices.

On Monday, March 17, the Real Housewives of Orange County star posted a selfie of herself with her ex-husband recovering in the hospital bed. They were joined by their daughter, and Gina explained in the caption how their weekend took a frightening turn.

“Wow. We had a scary weekend! Matt (the kiddos dad) suffered a heart attack Saturday,” Gina wrote. “He’s only 40 years old!! Thank god Britt rushed him to the hospital and all the hospital staff acted quickly!!”

Gina and Matt share three kids, and the RHOC star said they were a little “shaken up” over their dad’s health scare. Fortunately, he’s back home, and they’re using this experience as a learning lesson.

“We will all be changing our lifestyle and leaning into the healthy bc being there for our kids is the only thing that matters,” Gina wrote.

In the Instagram post, Gina shared a few snaps of her blended family supporting Matt during his recovery. She said the health scare put “things in perspective” for their family, and she’s grateful that they’ve built such a strong co-parenting unit.

Gina wrote, “For anyone out there struggling to coparent, remember you are all a family and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids. Tomorrow is not promised, today is a gift.”
